    Permanent Spike? Or Possible Damage?

@EatMoTacos I try to adopt the mindset of acceptance rather than cure. Hope can f**k with you and trail you along. When it changes or has something new to do I try to separate myself from it and allow it to do its will. It's mindfulness really. Allow yourself to feel annoyed or upset, then try...

    Permanent Spike? Or Possible Damage?

@EatMoTacos Im starting to get my head around mine now. Takes so much energy to stop your head from going down the negative path but if you keep it up you can turn it around and it becomes easier. How are you doing?

    Permanent Spike? Or Possible Damage?

@EatMoTacos Ive had it 7 years and last week exactly the same thing happened to me. I've locked onto it and now it's louder than before at a higher pitch. I can hear it over the TV. I lost my head over it the first few days. Now I'm a bit depressed about it. But I've accepted it and I know that...

    Permanent Spike? Or Possible Damage?

@EatMoTacos Dude, chill about it. T can react or change for a thousand reasons. Best way of dealing with it is - let it. If you've been out and had a few and been exposed to some normal loudness (not concert or nightclub levels, like chatty bar with background music is fine) the chances are...

Just Got Severe Tinnitus, Am I Ever Going to Enjoy Life Again?

@MaxK damn straight! You tell that bitch who's boss. I'm going through a spike which started last week. On the first day of realising it wasn't going down I was thinking about the big S. but hell no. Just got to going through the first few weeks and tell my subconscious brain it's not a threat...

Anyone from This Forum Recovered Totally from Tinnitus?

@trocobob don't sweat it. But I've got to say you are approaching it wrong. I promise you, habituation is the cure, because everyone has a noise in their ears. All that's happened is that you've damaged the hairs a little, the noise got noticeable and your brain recognised it as a threat. So it...

Advice Please from Those Who Recovered from Tinnitus Spikes?

@Sam Bridge how old are you? I wouldn't let it bully you like that. You can protect yourself for years and it'll spike one day anyway. Look at me, I continued to dj for years, I used earplugs but occasionally let my ears hear the music. I've been absolutely fine letting my T do its thing. I...

Advice Please from Those Who Recovered from Tinnitus Spikes?

@Sam Bridge yeh that would be a fun exercise, not haha. I think you get used to your individual sound. There's people out there who are happy everyday with all kinds of weird shit going on. Tired and anxious is what I am right now. But I've been way more tired and way more anxious without my t...

Advice Please from Those Who Recovered from Tinnitus Spikes?

@Sam Bridge Haha you lucky git. Actually I don't think it matters what pitch the T is. It's your brain accepting it that matters. I've known people to habituate to the sound of a football being kicked against a garage door. This is currently quite piercing and angry, I'm sure it'll calm a little...

Advice Please from Those Who Recovered from Tinnitus Spikes?

@Sam Bridge got mine in 2011 where it was like that. Had to stick my fingers in my ears to hear it. Then 12 months later I had a spike which really knocked me out but that settled to a lower lever and then barely noticed it after a while. I remeber that being over the tv as well for a while...

Advice Please from Those Who Recovered from Tinnitus Spikes?

@fishbone sorry to hear you've had a tough time. I've had years of anxiety as well. The funny thing is I've just recovered from 6 months of anxiety and depression which caused insomnia. I've had 6 great weeks living my life well again and then BOOM! T rears its ugly head to take it all away. How...

Advice Please from Those Who Recovered from Tinnitus Spikes?

@Sam Bridge have you habituated to that level then? You ok with it or getting there? Or is it a new spike?

Tinnitus for 7 Years Has Gotten Worse

@jer Of course protect your ears with plugs if it gets loud. But normal levels of noise shouldn't be avoided. Say pub chatter with background music in is fine. If you fear that level which won't damage your ears then you feed the beast. Bars and clubs with music people are dancing to, get those...

Tinnitus for 7 Years Has Gotten Worse

@sydneygirl Ok, I'll give you my view on this. I've habituated twice and I'm back on because an ear blockage has made mine worse again, (but don't think negatively that you will have my problems, my ears have been damaged badly by working in clubs and djing). I think everyone goes through...

Advice Please from Those Who Recovered from Tinnitus Spikes?

@Sam Bridge I think when people say louder than the tv they mean the tv doesn't completely mask it. But it's strange as you can watch tv and your brain can sometimes switch attention and turn off the T even when it's not masked by the TV. The brain is a funny but powerful thing.

Advice Please from Those Who Recovered from Tinnitus Spikes?

@Sam Bridge yeh I hear it alongside the tv. Only over the past week though. It was down to pretty much unnoticeable a few weeks ago. @Michael Leigh it can flare up if I'm accidentally somewhere loud without my earplugs but I'm generally careful and any light spikes go down after a day or two...

Will I Ever Be Able to Sleep Again?

@MaxK best thing to do about sleep is to accept what you get and if you wake up just rest. I've just spent 6 months dealing with insomnia and it's like T in that the more you give it your attention the worse it gets. Treat it with disdain and you're likely to find you'll sleep better. It's a bit...

Advice Please from Those Who Recovered from Tinnitus Spikes?

Ok, my tinnitus started really low in 2011. I got over it quite quickly as soon as I learnt about habituation and just becoming friends with it. But it wasn't at all bad. 12 months later it spiked and I really had to get to grips with it. It went up to moderate and at first I could hear it over...
