Cause of Tinnitus
Maybe stress ?
Hi

I suffered from tinnitus since Jan 2016.

It is constant now so I don't know what to do?

Give it time or returning to the doctor again (who removed an ear wax accumulation manually on 5 Feb 2016).

Anyone from this forum returned to silence (not habituation) even when trying listening to tinnitus?

Thanks

I'm sure there are but to be honest they will have left the forum if their T resolved. Mine had 99% resolved so I stopped visiting. It came back due to many medical things, so now I'm back.

This is what i think.
If someone has tinnitus cured. He will leave this forum.
So i wonder if existe a person with recovering status.

Regards

Nice to heard that. What was the causes of your tinnitus ? And how much time it took you ?

Regards

I wish people were more sensitive to ones still suffering and came back and write down their recovery stories. :(

I agree, I had sudden sensisoneural hearing loss on my lt ear, my tinnitus in severe, can't eat, having difficulty concentrating and its only been 5 weeks ! No one can tell me how long will this last, I was told from 2 weeks to forever ? Did anyone have similar problem and did it get better? I can live with the hearing loss but tinnitus is unbearable.

Absolutely true. I'm only visiting during or after a spike.
In my opinion it's necessary for recovery to avoid this forum if possible. Even though it's sad for the people not able to leave TT...

@trocobob don't sweat it. But I've got to say you are approaching it wrong. I promise you, habituation is the cure, because everyone has a noise in their ears. All that's happened is that you've damaged the hairs a little, the noise got noticeable and your brain recognised it as a threat. So it latched on and racked the volume up.
I know you are looking for a turn off switch which is natural. That's what habituation is. A turn off switch. Unfortunately it takes time to retrain your brain to ignore the sound and stick it back in the background. You are currently trying to deal with it via your conscious and complex front brain. That doesn't work because all your front brain can do is try figuring out a cure. Looking for answers. The answer is below: accept it!
You subconscious brain controls your nerve system. Right now, consciously you are concentrating on the T and fearing it and wanting it gone. That's telling your subconscious brain to panic. It's pretty stupid your subconscious, it simply knows whether to turn on your sympathetic fight or flight or parasympathetic rest and digest nervous systems.
So, it's a paradox you are in. The message you need to give to your subconscious brain is that the sound is safe and won't harm you. Keep telling yourself that. Over and over to replace the message you are currently sending which is panic.
As soon as you keep telling yourself it's ok, it's just a noise, I CAN live with it, I CAN concentrate on something else. keep that positive thought and keep positive to believe it. You WILL eventually believe it and say to yourself one day 'actually it's not that bad'. Doesn't feel like it now but it will happen. Once you accept it and stop fearing it you switch the off switch you've been looking for. Your subconscious will slacken it's reaction of pumping you with stress chemicals. Then it will start losing its attention to it. Then you will have periods where you don't hear it. You will sleep better and eventually you will hardly notice it, and as time goes on you lose any fear of it and you honestly and I mean honestly, won't even want it curing. Some have really bad T and they can't get to that level. But most will. They leave this site and don't come back. I'm back after 6 years of T with a spike. I'll habituate again quite quickly I reckon because I know the dance. Your hearing will degrade over time so looking for a cure to make your ears perfect again or thinking your ears will be perfect forever sets you up for a fall. Start the process dude, you'll be a lot happier than looking for pills and potions and building a life around T.
