Loss of Sense of Smell from COVID-19/Flu — What Are My Chances of Recovery?

Hi, fellow Torontonian! I remember losing my sense of taste and smell after having Covid. It took a few weeks, but it eventually came back. I also lost it about five days into my illness. From what I understand, most people recover, so try not to worry too much about it. There are cases where...

Thanks @ErikaS and sorry for my slow reply. It had died down from the insane levels using the laser but since doing the therapy, I’ve got more sounds in my head and some more sensitivity in my ears, though in fairness, the reactive component has relaxed some. So at least there’s that.

Hi Erika - nice to meet you! Wondering if I could ask you some questions about your lumomed experience? I just finished 20 sessions myself and like you, it really spiked the worst / reactive tone I have and hasn’t gone back down. Wanted to see if that ended up levelling out for you (and how long...

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) for Tinnitus — Long-Lasting Everyday Home-Practiced Experiences

@SoundB0und, you mentioned that you used the laser after experiencing a spike or new trauma, if I remember correctly. Did your tinnitus ever get significantly worse for a few days after using the laser, before eventually improving? I’ve been doing clinic sessions with Lumomed, and I have to say...

In Florida Trying the John Lieurance Lumomed Laser Therapy

Yes, I’m doing Lumomed, but at a location closer to me! I plan to complete 10 sessions and then reassess. I didn’t love how it made me feel after the first day, but we’ll see how it goes. Also, my ears felt very watery during the sessions. I’m really glad it’s working out for you!

In Florida Trying the John Lieurance Lumomed Laser Therapy

Glad you got out safely! Scary situation. I’m also glad you’re getting some relief. Did you find your tinnitus increased (or heard new tones) during/hours after the sessions? I just started the therapy at another clinic too and found after the first two sessions I heard some new tones, or...

Reactive Tinnitus for the First Time: Are There Success Stories?

@AverageJoe12 brain hemorrhage was diagnosed via CT scan. I went to the hospital once I started experiencing a thunderclap headache. Weeks later, certain frequencies started sounding off for a day, then it stopped, then the ringing started (and never stopped, but things got better a couple...

Reactive Tinnitus for the First Time: Are There Success Stories?

Hi everyone, I’ve had tinnitus for years now following a brain hemorrhage, and over time, I’ve reached a point where I can almost completely ignore it. It feels like white noise in the background—it’s there, but it doesn’t bother me, and I only notice it if I actively look for it...

Q&A: Tinnitus Hub Meets Neuromod (Lenire)

@Agrajag364 If the tongue piece emits an electrical pulse, In this case I’m guessing participants would know if they were part of the placebo. Perhaps they could have created a less stimulating version as the placebo, but if participants didn’t feel the “pop rocks”/champagne bubbles feeling...

Q&A: Tinnitus Hub Meets Neuromod (Lenire)

Thanks @Clare B for sharing your story. I read a summary of an article produced by Sven Vanneste, part of Neuromod’s Science Advisory Board, highlighting the difference in brain activity for tinnitus patience’s with hearing loss below and above 20db via EEG...

Tinnitus After Brain Surgery (Craniotomy to Clip a Ruptured Aneurysm)

Hi @capecrusader , I had a non-aneurysm subarachnoid hemorrhage in June and have had multiple crazy tones in my head ever since. It’s very challenging, and also not that uncommon for those who experience a brain injury. If you haven’t already, I suggest you check out behindthegray.com - it’s a...

Anyone Else? Tinnitus After Bleed in My Subarachnoid

Thanks, everyone. @Laurie1961 thanks for the advice! I was on lorazapam for the initial weeks to keep me calmer and finally sleep, but I’m moving away from that, so any natural anti-anxiety suggestions are great. @billie48 I’ve been trying to mask the sounds at night, but I’ve got a few and...

Anyone Else? Tinnitus After Bleed in My Subarachnoid

Hi everyone - I’m new to Tinnitus Talk. I’ve been experiencing Tinnitus consistently for three and a half weeks now. It started off as a ringing in my right ear and has evolved into ringing in my head, as well as my left ear. This all started after I suffered a non-aneurysm bleed in my head...
