I think I finally figured out how to send my message through, so you might get it but might not haha. The gist of it is it turned out to be an autoimmune problem not an infection. I still have it and don't love but have found ways to live with it and be ok for the most part.
Hi I just wanted to let you know I got your PM but the forum site won't let me post a reply and keeps saying it looks like SPAM, not sure why. I don't go on this site anymore but just wanted you to know I wasn't ignoring your message on purpose.
How many out there are parenting with severe tinnitus?
I'm currently staying with my parents due to being post-surgery and having some health complications that caused tinnitus. I am very depressed as tinnitus increased post surgery that was supposed to help. Its still early days and I hope and...
I've taken melatonin and didn't have any effect on my tinnitus. I think T tends to go up and down for many people no matter what they do, and oftentimes the change is ascribed to something that immediately preceded it but that may not be the cause. I would say for sleep melatonin is probably the...
It could be related or it could be other things. Do you have an ear or sinus infection? Any pain or pressure in the ears? I would go to a doctor, preferably an ENT, as soon as you can.
Best lof luck, I hope this passes soon for you.
I have been having the same issue. It's like my right ear is threatening to develop T. It will be there only for a few seconds and I honestly have a hard time telling which ear its in now. If T is in the brain and not the ears, it makes sense that it could jump from side to side. Where you hear...
Thank you, you're a kind soul. You're right, I don't know what the heck is going on. I don't have the "typical" onset of acoustic trauma, and I thought mine would quickly get better or at least stay where it started, but thats not what happened.
I know I need to give all these procedures at...
I couldn't read this and not post. I know you say that you don't write this to garner sympathy and I can respect that. I know I'm just a stranger on the internet, but I'm glad you're still alive, and you ARE still fighting T as we speak.
Darryl,
It's good to hear your surgery went fairly well. I'm glad you're staying positive, I hope to get to that place as well.
I have a feeling the ringing was less for me at first bc the anasthesia dulled all my senses.
You said that you already have ear tubes, as in grommets? Can I ask you...
Thank you. Today is just a day where I've hit a bad low. I have an ENT appointment Tuesday maybe I will just get those grommets/tubes out and hopefully T would return to its previous state. I'm just to a point where I feel suicidal. I was coping, I was adjusting but this has really dealt a...
My tinnitus came on during an ear infection
It's mainly improved when I've been on prednisone (which I can't continue) and for some reason it improved right after surgery. Maybe it was the anasthesia making my brain not fully functional so it wasn't picking up the sound.
It's hard for me to...
You're right, I totally have a love/hate relationship with this forum. If I'm having a pretty good day you won't see me on here. Many people on here have been a great support, but when I do feel good I try to take a break and focus on real life.
I guess it's just because this is still new, and...
I don't think you caused this. There are many people who listen to things at loud volumes and at most get mild tinnitus. Sometimes our bodies just turn on us.
I'm also angry as I tried to go for a walk every other house had someone out with a stupid leaf blower. I am not bothered by the noise...
I'm having a very difficult day today with tinnitus. Does anyone else struggle when their tinnitus goes up and down? I know it's silly, but I feel like the tinnitus toys with me sometimes. It improves and I feel hopeful and then it goes to worse than before and once again I fly into panic mode...
After surgery the T was pretty quiet all day and into Saturday. It could have been the anaesthesia. My hearing was no better but I was feeling hopeful. Then yesterday night I started to feel some bad pain and the T was ratcheting up. I took 2 ibuprofen which I know can exacerbate T but for me...
Darryl,
My ENT who is doing the surgery said he thinks this will help since my tinnitus started after my trouble with the ears started. But of course, he can't tell me for sure. I am trying not to get my hopes up, I'm almost nervous about waking up from surgery and hearing the same or worse T...
Your issues sound similar to mine. My ENT thinks I have "hidden allergies" where they don't bother me much but my E-tube and sinuses get inflamed. We had a very high allergy season this year where I live.
I took several courses of prednisone and each time they help at the higher doses but the T...
Hi everyone, I've had ongoing ETD, ear infection, glue ear, sinus issues for several months. Previous to this I was totally health, never had any problems with my ears. Eventually, I got tinnitus in 1 ear and today my eardrum in my previously good ear ruptured and now I can hear my heartbeat in...
Kriszti,
I looked back at your threads and it sounds like yours may be caused my ETD, as is mine. I don't know if yours will go away or not ofcourse, but just know that there is hope and treatments to try. I am getting a myringotomy and E-tube dilation. They also did a CT and found one of my...
That is the big question isn't it? Even when people try to be nice, the most they can say is "I'm so sorry," and "I'll pray for you." I appreciate them being empathetic and thinking of me. But, right now I'm having trouble keeping the faith and there's nothing they can say or do to make this...
My husband has been very understanding and helpful. Ive had so much anxiety over this since it recently started. He's been the only one I've fully talked to about my suicidal feelings.
Friends and family I've just told that I'm having a hard time. They've been nice but they don't know the...
I read a case study where the anti-depressant Mirtazapine completely relieved tinnitus in a person. Others here have said that this same drug made them worse. Anti-depressants work very differently for different people.
I think it's important to get info from peer reviewed studies in medical...
Thank you, I needed that. I was set to start yesterday then the infection hit again. I feel so frustrated and angry as my tinnitus was down to a manageable level until getting off Prednisone but I have been on it for 3 courses already and the doc won't prescribe more. I just feel like this...
I have tinnitus due to an ongoing ear infection that's been antibiotic resistant, as well as doing a too forceful Valsalva. It has gone done in volume while I was on Prednisone earlier, to a level where I was content and felt I could live with it. I've had lots of ups and downs. It's now back to...
I had the myringotomy done one 1 ear, the one that looks the worst. The ENT did not put a tube in bc he said it would diminish my hearing and he wanted to see if pressure would equalize on it's own. The day after the myringotomy I felt like T was getting better. However, the hole is supposed to...
When I first came on this forum I felt so devastated by the negativity of life with tinnitus. Don't get me wrong, tinnitus is horrible and there is plenty to be negative about. I am in my 3rd week and still don't know what happened and my condition keeps changing which is terrifying. I've had...
It will be 3 weeks next Tuesday since my tinnitus started. I finished my 2nd prednisone taper this Monday. I was feeling very hopeful, the tinnitus was down to a very manageable hiss, and I felt I could get used to it and go on with life. I believe mine was caused by doing the Valsalva maneuver...
I'm on week 2 of tinnitus that I'm afraid I caused myself. I had an ear infection and just googled different relief methods. Tried the Valsalva and it actually really helped, relieved the pressure in my ears. However, at one point I woke up at night with a ton of ear pressure and did it out of...
I was very hopeful yesterday as the sound became very soft in the evening and the high-pitched tones were gone. Then I woke up at night with ear pain and that high-pitched squeal in my ear, and it's remained constant since.
I have the same problem. I've tried the Debrox but it's never worked for me. A lot of times when you try it yourself you further impact it making the problem worse. I would go to the ENT. I just went to an Urgent Care recently and they were able to do it with a forceful sprayer and hydrogen...
I am also new to tinnitus and just wanted to offer my support. I feel somewhat like I caused mine too and keep going over the moments and hours before it started. The feelings of anger and anxiety are terrible. Hang in there and make sure to protect your hearing from now on!
Hi all, I am new to tinnitus, it's been one week since it started. I've had problems with my ear canals for about 9 years now, they are very itchy from rosacea and I have to get my ears cleaned from impacted ear wax but no hearing or other ear problems. Over a month ago, I started to get a very...
