I have a Symphony of tones... I've lost track of them but I find paying them heed is bad. Sometimes they come and go. But mostly they're always there. Try clonazapam in small doses when you need relief ... Just don't do it daily.

I feel like my higher tones are more annoying. But that's just me. The bass tone for waxes and wanes now a days. I feel your pain but you will get through it. Push on.

I doubt it was your meds... Ativan and Gabapentin aren't highly ototoxic. In fact Ativan is used to treat T but has a short half life. I suggest you talk to your doc about weening down VERY slowly off the Ativan. Look into a liquid taper and the Ashton Manual. You are not alone in this and you...

No huge revelations... But he his a decent human being with a great knowledge of tinnitus and hyperacusis- he has no desire to sell anything and would rather save you money with sound therapy. He runs his own Tinnitus charity organization for free on his own time.

I've had absolutely no problem with wearing soft foam ear plugs after ascent through 5+ hrs of flight then removing them for descent. I also wore earmuffs over them.

Benzos are a readily available type of "aspirin" approach. Who really cares. They're probably more reliable when only used sparingly.

I take 2 mg Klonopin daily. It helps but tolerance grows slowly and is a b@tch. I tried to taper off ATIVAN and it was hellish. I have a feeling I'm going to be on benzos for life. Or at least until they do more harm than good.

I have the alpines. They are comfortable but annoying to put in and out. (There's a little plastic applicator). The NNR of the highest gold filters is 16 db.

You sound very depressed please seek a doctor and get some help and antidepressants. Lexapro/Klonopin/neurontin has helped me a great deal. You can make it through this.

Try a small dose. If it is truly worse stop, but don't look for it to get worse or it will seem that way. I take lexapro 10 mg daily

Yes - but this is much more of a problem with shot half life benzos such as oxypam and ativan as well as xanex. Klonopin and diazapam are much better in this regard. Not saying it can't happen but the chances are far far less.

@Poyraz - listen to @undecided . He knows his meds. I know I wish I never started benzos... But they are the only thing that lowers my t. But he is right about the cold turkey stops as you know- I also know folks that have had peremenant T from an abrupt stop but it's rare that the actual meds...

What the non chronic tinnitus sufferer defines as tinnitus is much different than what we define T as and in many cases it's just a symptom that comes and goes for benzo users (they'll list it among a miriad of other symptoms). I don't believe for a second that you could get permanent T from 1...

For loud stuff foam / and muffs. But custom moulded can get you by with er25 filters or made solid. I have given up performing for the time being but earn my living teaching privately at LOW low volumes. Be careful.

Yes. It helps with not obsessing and depression. I think it prevents severe anxiety too. I'm on 15 mg a day. It's a relatively small dose but its helped. The side effects that I get ate feeling a bit emotionally flat and some very very minor libido changes.

I'm on lexapro. I don't think it affects my T one way or another. The chances are very small.

Any opinions on this? And BTW for what it's worth. K does dramatically lower the volume of my T.
