Noise-Induced Tinnitus, 5 Weeks In — I Feel Like My Life Is Over

Hi everyone. I’m about 2.5 months in now and really frustrated. It started out as 1 consistent tone in my right ear and an intermittent tone in the ear with some reactivity. My right ear now has 3 separate tones, and my left ear has a Morse code-like sound. I sometimes get pulsatile...

Sudden Unilateral Tinnitus: Looking for Some Support

I hope you can do your best to stay calm and keep your mind off of it. Find some soft noise that masks it if you can. You’re only 1 week in. Your tinnitus is basically a newborn. It could very well improve.

50 dB AC Unit Makes My Tinnitus Spike

Could this actually be doing harm to my ears? 50 dB seems so quiet but the sound of my AC unit amplifies my tinnitus, and it remains somewhat louder even after I turn it off. Am I just supposed to tough out the heat? Or maybe this is a good way to desensitize my ears?

Two Concerning New Symptoms: Clicking Noise While Running, Visual Snow in Low Light

A few times a day, when I adjust the position of my head, I can feel fluid moving inside of my ears. I’ve seen two ENTs and they haven’t seen any sign of fluid. Any idea what might be causing this sensation?

Tinnitus After a Gun Shot without Wearing Hearing Protection

Hi Chris, You are still very early in to your ear trauma. If this is the first time you’ve ever really hurt your ears, I think you have a great chance of the ringing subsiding if you are careful. Your ears are vulnerable now and you need to protect them as much as possible. You are also lucky...

Can Tinnitus Spread Into the "Good" Ear Too?

My noise trauma happened almost 8 weeks ago. I’ve been trying so hard to be cautious about protecting my ears and now my formerly good left ear is constantly hissing. I had fleeting tinnitus in it occasionally but now it’s been unrelenting for days. How common is this occurrence? Do you think...

My Tinnitus Has Coincided with Some Sort of Vestibular Disorder — Making Me Suicidal

Thanks, unfortunately I’ve been doing most of that for almost 2 months now and it’s just gotten worse. Vestibular issues seem to be much more complicated than just tinnitus. Every day I feel closer to giving up.

UPDATE: Hearing Loss Resolved, Continued Tinnitus, Dizziness, Visual Symptoms

How are you doing? Your symptoms sound eerily similar to mine. I’m so scared and haven’t been this suicidal in ages. I already suffered from depression before my ear problems, and I’m doubting if I can endure this added burden.

My Tinnitus Has Coincided with Some Sort of Vestibular Disorder — Making Me Suicidal

A history of my ear troubles: Had a major acoustic trauma over two years ago when I was sitting in the way back of a car basically on top of a speaker for an hour. The bass was incredibly powerful. This resulted in hyperacusis and awful bouts of pulsatile tinnitus that lasted several months...

Can Noise-Induced Hearing Loss Cause Pulsatile Tinnitus?

From my personal experience, PT can absolutely be caused by acoustic trauma. It’s how mine started. I think for PT to be related to acoustic trauma, it has to be caused by a very low frequency noise. For me, I was right on top of a bass speaker. I’ve seen an article about mice developing...

Starting to Develop Vertigo After an Acoustic Trauma Caused by MRI

I’m sorry that happened to you. From my personal experience, I had vertigo for about 1.5 weeks which started about 4 weeks after an acoustic trauma. I think it really depends on what is causing the vertigo through. You may benefit from a VNG test which tests your balance, but if they try to blow...

Two Concerning New Symptoms: Clicking Noise While Running, Visual Snow in Low Light

It's been about 5.5 weeks since an acoustic trauma that started my tinnitus. Tinnitus volume was doing its best since a spike from an accidental loud noise about 11 days ago. I felt positive enough to go for a run around dusk. As I was running, I noticed two concerning things: 1. I could...

Tinnitus from Blasting Earbuds at Max Volume: Hello from a Newbie

I'm relatively new to T as well (about 5.5 weeks in), and I've had a couple worsenings/changings in tone, and it is so discouraging. I'm sorry you woke up to a spike. I don't have any advice, but I can empathize.

Noise-Induced Tinnitus, 5 Weeks In — I Feel Like My Life Is Over

My ENT wants me to get an MRI because there's an occasional pulsatile aspect to my T. However, I'm terrified the noise of the MRI will make my T spike, and I'm convinced the cause of my T is simply acoustic trauma. Any thoughts?

Noise-Induced Tinnitus, 5 Weeks In — I Feel Like My Life Is Over

Greg, Thanks for your reply. What you said about balance makes sense. My doctor's theory was that my inner ear is inflamed and is causing balance issues. Thankfully, the balance has seemed to improve little by little every day naturally. I think forcing myself to exercise has helped as well...

Noise-Induced Tinnitus, 5 Weeks In — I Feel Like My Life Is Over

Hi everyone, I've been lurking here for a couple weeks and finally decided to make an account, because I'm in such a dark place and I don't know how to manage. First, I'd like to give a history of my tinnitus: A little over two years ago, I was forced to ride in the way back of a car (no...
