@Michael Leigh, I still struggle with the whole, "avoid quiet rooms with sound enrichment" and "I may have damaged my hearing with "sound".... I haven't found that balance since my new spike.

How Do You Deal with Your Tinnitus While Meditating?

I have been curious as being in a quiet room makes the tinnitus seem louder, though I don't think it is in reality. I know that @Hazel mentioned in one of the Tinnitus Talk Podcast episodes that she actually used her tinnitus as her focal point, which is really a cool concept because maybe it's...

Long-Term Tinnitus Recently Worse (Or Am I Imagining Things?)

Oh no, I did not intend it to imply that at all. Sorry if that's how it came across. No no, but you did answer below. This above, is what I was and am looking for from most people as I navigate this new, uh, journey? As I've said, I've had this for 25 years, but back then, no way of getting...

Long-Term Tinnitus Recently Worse (Or Am I Imagining Things?)

Game? Easy on the flexing. Took that way too personally for a support forum. So correction, he did write that. But I don't think it means what it was interpreted as. I'm gonna do more sound pressure research for my own sanity.

    My Posting Place

I know the post above is from way long ago, but as I'm deep into this, what decibel meter did you get and what were/are your thoughts (heck, by now you may have something even newer/better)? Please share so I have somewhere to be directed to.

Long-Term Tinnitus Recently Worse (Or Am I Imagining Things?)

I guess that's pretty good for you as you can have no tinnitus and mild tinnitus at times, rather than my constant pitches. Do you have a good decibel volume where you'd recommend what's "comfortable" or "safe"?

I'll ask the burning question in my mind. Do you still hear your tinnitus when playing music on your HI-FI systems?

How Do You Deal with Your Tinnitus While Meditating?

Pre-COVID-19, I used to do Yoga but then the gyms closed. Now that my tinnitus has spiked and isn't seeming to go down, I was wondering about getting back into Yoga and adding Meditation. But my biggest problem is, with meditation, as it's quiet internal focus based, all I hear is that darn...

Long-Term Tinnitus Recently Worse (Or Am I Imagining Things?)

This is what I want to understand better. For now, let's put the earbud thing aside for a moment please. How can we listen to music through speakers in a safe way? What kind of volume. Perhaps expand on what you call "comfortable". I am an avid music fan, and not listening to music is...

I Just Don’t Know What the Cause of My Tinnitus Is?

But what is it exactly about using headphones/buds at low volumes (below 65 dB) that makes it worse? How is that different from being in a room full of people that rates 65 dB or listening to music from speakers that is at 65 dB?

Long-Term Tinnitus Recently Worse (Or Am I Imagining Things?)

@Clerkp, your story sounds so much like my intro post. I too am 46, and have had tinnitus since I was 20/21. It really bothered me at the beginning, but somewhere over the last 25 years I guess I habituated (there was no internet and information to access, so all these terms are new to me NOW...

Episode 18: Tinnitus Realities — Steve and Sean

I found the app, it's called "TinnitusPlay". I'm having some difficulty in using it. And when using the Match and Test feature, though there is an option to "Save" your sounds, it does not. Seems like a glitch in the app. Anyone with experience on the app who can help?

    iPhone's Headphone Safety Feature

This is an important part of this thread in particular. @Jack Straw, do you still hear your tinnitus when playing music on AirPods between 50-60 dB? I know I do with my new Beats (works with Apple as it's Apple branded). It is comforting to know that I can "see" what level the music is at. I...

Maybe a silly question, but if you are listening to music with earbuds between 50-60 dB, do you still hear your tinnitus? Because I sure do.

Great Podcast! Towards the end of the episode there was mention of a free app on iOS devices. However, I couldn't quite catch what the app is called so I can get it. Any help would be appreciated.

First Post Intro: Tinnitus for About 25 Years & Significantly Worse Since April 2021

@billie48 and @OnceUponaTime, thank you for your concern and kind words. It's been 7 months now since the tinnitus got louder, and for some reason, I "feel" like it's even been louder since September. I wish there was a way to actually test/measure one's own tinnitus levels just to know. That's...

Since We're Supposed to Stop Using Headphones, Can You Play Music and Podcasts Through Hearing Aids?

Me too. This particular thing bothers me, the idea that ANC in an earbud is actually playing a sound too high/low to hear, but at too much of a volume that I can't control. Personally, I would think that something like that would be illegal and immoral, and if discovered would be all over the...

So listening to music (speakers, not earbuds) at 60-65 dB should be safe? I’m still trying to figure this all out again.

So far alcohol hasn’t changed a thing. Still have tinnitus. And it’s been worse the last few months. At least alcohol makes me care less about it in the evenings.

First Post Intro: Tinnitus for About 25 Years & Significantly Worse Since April 2021

I wanted to introduce myself. New to the forum, but long time tinnitus sufferer. I’ve had this since about 1996, so about 25 years. It started when I was 21. When it first started, I had two very high, slightly offset pitches (around 4300 Hz). They are constant in pitch, never ending, not...
