I got tinnitus 5 weeks ago (might be a week off) from a gunshot.

When I plug my nose and blow out my ears (sounds odd) I can hear silence. Does this happen to anyone else?

Yes. Two days ago it dropped in volume quite a bit and was even gonr for about a minute. I was so happy to have silence. I hope its on its way out.

I'm not gonna try steroids. My mom talked to some people and they didn't think it would benefit me.

Are there any vitamins I could take to try and reduce my tinnitus? Im hoping if there is, they help more because im young (14), it was my first really loud noise exposure, and its still early on (3 and a half weeks).

And yes I just got tinnitus only three and a half weeks ago, and it might go away on its own (hopefly), but i would gladly take a pill every day of my life to be like my old self again.

So do you guys think this will work for people with tinntus for say, 3 years?

Just got back from the ENT. They did a hearing test in the most common frequencies, 250-8000. Perfect hearing. He said that I most likely damaged the higher frequency hearing. He said tinnitus is like phantom pain, and ill just get used to it over time.. He didnt say anything about it going...

Thanks, everyone. You helped a lot. Anything I should ask for or about at my appointment tomorrow? And I will be sure to keep everyone updated. I never knew what could happen and how big of an effect ear problems were.. if it does go away or not ill always be more protective with my ears.
