BTA Tinnitus Information Days in the UK

The event was fantastic, the speakers were really good and the Mindfulness session by Dr. Laurence McKenna was a particular highlight. Really appreciative of the BTA to bring this event to Aberdeen and give us this opportunity.

BTA Tinnitus Information Days in the UK

Yeah alright, in the beginning it was torture and I thought it was the end of the world. But gradually I got used to it, my brain sorta tuned it out but it still drives me crazy when I'm trying to sleep or focus at work. My worry is that it gets worse, I'm only 26 so it has plenty of time to get...

New to Tinnitus... Is This Temporary?

Wow! Your situation almost completely mirrors my one! Get everything checked out to be safe. My doctor keeps telling me it is withdrawal from the Prozac and it is a common side effect, I hope this is what it is in your case. :)

Anyone Else Here with Hissing Noise?

Yeah I've got the hissing sound too.......... I've got three sounds: hissing, the "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" that sound like electical distortion and if it's very quiet I hear a "whoomp, whoomp, whoomp" sound all at the same time.

What Hobbies Do You Have? (and Does Tinnitus Interfere?)

My friend and I have a film company. Filmmaking is our passion in life! We used to make films and enter them into film festivals which was great fun! He knows I have Tinnitus and his father also has had it for as long as he can remember so he understands. We used to specifically pick serene...

Funding for Tinnitus and Other Hearing Conditions

Yeah my heart sank a bit at that too. Imagine if they discovered a treatment or cure for Tinnitus and it could cure many people's type of tinnitus but couldn't help your own type. You'd be gutted. But we have to be optimistic, there's not much point in being anything else ;)

    Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Did my first session of this today. I've had tinnitus for over 5 weeks. Was incredibly painful in my right ear to begin with (the ear with the worse tinnitus) but after a while it was okay. I 'popped' my ears and the sounds i heard in the right ear were incredible, it sounded like a washing...

    Our Role

Everyday I wake up and with this high frequency screech in my ear I think to myself, we're another day closer to something happening. Whether it's a cure, treatment, understanding or breakthrough. When I first started getting this I thought "Right, what can I do?" because I hate the idea of...

    The Benefits of Tinnitus

I totally agree with this! Silly, little petty things don't annoy me anymore....I've developed a "So what?" attitude to them. Also if my tinnitus went away, or even became less intense it would be the best feeling ever! :)

    Tinnitus Awareness/Research

I totally agree with your suggestion with these two @Markku. I was thinking perhaps celebrities would be more responsive to a charity or independent body as opposed to a number of individuals (i.e. us). Maybe our approach should be to the British Tinnitus Association (as Chris Martin is...

Tibetan Medicine Works for Tinnitus — Test This Supplement!

I'm glad to hear your anxiety and reaction levels are down man. I'm thinking of going down the Julian Cowan Hill route myself. I agree with your "we're all in this together" comment, I'm so glad I discovered this forum and see we are getting new members everyday who we can also support.

    Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

I've started contacting places that offer this sort of treatment in Scotland to see if I can receive some, I've only had my tinnitus for under 5 weeks. I'll give anything a go to get ANY sort of relief! Fingers crossed!

    Year Anniversary of My Tinnitus

Your situation echoes mine, everything in my life has changed since my Tinnitus developed and the outlook does seem bleak. The two highlights of my day: 1. The shower in the morning because it completely covers my tinnitus. 2. Driving to/from work with my music playing and the fan on. Pretty...

    WiFi and Tinnitus

Funnily enough before I started having tinnitus, I did sleep with my iPad on the pillow next to me every day for 4 years.....a device constantly receiving a Wi-Fi signal. It would be an unconventional reason for my tinnitus but so far it could be as good a reason as any!

'The Tinnitus Test' — Awareness Technique

Oh no no no, you can't force people to participate. It could be a feature of Tinnitus awareness week or something, you get volunteers to take part in the challenge! I reckon after 24 hours of the noise people would be saying "Man, you've got that all the time?!?"
