Retigabine (Trobalt, Potiga) — General Discussion

Fine, I'll say it if the mods won't. You seriously need to cool it with your ridiculous, unfounded, frankly hateful personal attacks. You keep accusing Dr. Nagler of this and that, yet you are seriously the most negative poster here constantly spewing vitriol and anger.

Antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOs, TCAs, TeCAs)

@MariaH, I'm just really confused. You stated your T was caused by noise exposure, not Remeron. Remeron caused what people here call a "spike." I'm really not trying to argue, but I don't know if it's correct for you to say that Remeron "caused" your tinnitus when you said that your tinnitus was...

    Our Mind Binds Us

"Not knowing what you're anxious about" is not uncommon at all. I went through the same thing. I kept telling my doctor I had nothing to be anxious about - great education, great job, healthy, friends, family, financial security - I couldn't figure it out. But sometimes anxiety doesn't care...

Retigabine (Trobalt, Potiga) — General Discussion

Sent you a PM, as I'm not sure this is the right thread to go into detail. Anyone else can feel free to send me a message if they're interested.

Retigabine (Trobalt, Potiga) — General Discussion

I'm so sorry, @Christian78. But you stated: I used to feel the same way about psychiatry. Thought it was a bunch of bunk. Then I ended up where you're headed, and I was so desperate that I was willing to try anything. And as cynical and closed-off as I was, therapy actually helped me! Me, who...

    Our Mind Binds Us

LeQuack, my T truly doesn't hurt me anymore. Yet it's still there. I am saying this not only because it's true, but because sufferers like you deserve to be given that hope.

    Anybody Going to Grad School?

I got through law school with tinnitus. A lot of soothing music while studying, not letting myself sit in silence. Absolutely throw yourself into your studies. It's a great distraction if you're in the right mind to do so.

Antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOs, TCAs, TeCAs)

Sounds good, @Marcini. Just know that no anti-depressant is going to work unless you're taking it regularly, and most of them don't kick in for a couple of weeks.

Antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOs, TCAs, TeCAs)

Well, I'm also on Prozac for depression and Buspar for anxiety, both of which I believe do the "heavy lifting" for my anxiety and depression. I don't know if I could accurately nail down the efficacy of the Remeron for those issues, as I was prescribed it for insomnia. I can't imagine it hurts...

Antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOs, TCAs, TeCAs)

I'm confused. Earlier in the thread you said: So you had T before you took those drugs?

Antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOs, TCAs, TeCAs)

I have been on Remeron for almost a year now. It works great for me. I was suffering from terrible insomnia - I wouldn't sleep for days at a time (my worst was four straight days without a wink). Now I have about 3-4 sleepless nights per year. I haven't noticed any effect on my T. See, positive...

    Anxiety and How to Cope?

No, anti-depressants do not "help" tinnitus as far as reducing the noise level. But they can help you make it through the day, sleep better, and put you in a better position to fight the T battle. For example, it's hard to keep doing the things you would normally do when you're sidelined by...

    Our Mind Binds Us

Jesse, you're onto something. You're absolutely right that the fear of the T contributes greatly to suffering. Where the area becomes gray is when you start comparing X noise to Y noise. I have habituated to my T and no longer suffer, but it's hard for me to feel like I'm giving other people...
