My Trip to Bangkok: Stem Cell Treatment [Comments]

True. Do we know of any people who had SC treatment at the StemCells21 clinic for tinnitus due to noise damage?
  2. J

My Trip to Bangkok: Stem Cell Treatment [Comments]

Are there theoretical reasons for why SC treatment wouldn't work as well for people with noise-induced tinnitus? One would think damage to the inner-ear is damage to the inner-ear regardless of the cause.

Yes, that's it. Here's a better link: https://www.ata.org/news/news/register-atas-webinar-vagus-nerve-stimulation It looks like you either need to pay for an ATA membership (which is around $40-$55) or pay a one-time fee of $25 to watch the webinar.

Focusing on Tinnitus — Does It Make It Worse?

Focusing on it will not actually make it worse. It will make you think it's worse because you're paying attention to it. Cover it up or "mask" it with other sounds. Personally, I have rain sounds playing in my room. Do things to distract yourself from the noise. Play video games, listen to...

I was checking my email and Will Rosellini responded to a tweet I sent him back in April (which he had already previously responded to.) This original tweet I sent Will: @NeuroStim Is the next trial planned? Sorry for all the questions, have had tinnitus for over a year and very anxious for...

Yeah, I've seen two or three people report their results on this forum (it failed for all of them.) But, according to the results from the second trial, 56% of patients (about 17 out of 30) had good results. I'm thinking a.) most of the participants were older people (50+) who might barely use...

Tried it as a last resort. Was paying out of pocket and went to about 12 appointments over the course of 6 weeks. Zero improvement/change in anything. Was there any issue with your tinnitus assessment? Another participant on here said that he had so many different noises and tones that made it difficult to figure out which one was the main tone. Also, do you know what the cause of your tinnitus is?

Please don't try to twist my words. My point was that it doesn't only work for people with hearing loss/noise damage, which is what it sounded like you were trying to say. Also, how do you know yours is caused by stress? Did you have some kind of brain test done?
  23. J

    MicroTransponder: Latest News and Research

Well yeah, the initial tests they did were on mice where they induced tinnitus through noise damage, so of course it probably only works on people who have it from damage to the cochlea. But really, you need to stop making it sound like it doesn't work for anyone. It works for some, it doesn't...

Very low chance of insurance covering it in the US unless you have very, VERY severe T. Then again, tinnitus is more about how it effects you, and not just what you're hearing/how loud it is. It's possible that if you kept going back to the doctor over and over, now that there is a real...

The same can be said about any treatment for tinnitus. I'm interested to see what they say about the people that didn't have clinically meaningful results. In the first trial, it was people who were on antidepressants or similar medications. Maybe they found out something new in this trial.

Poll: Can Your Tinnitus Be Masked By a Ceiling Fan?

I think I'm dealing with something similar. I have 3 different sounds, and with my fan on at about 55db, two of the sounds are easily masked, but the third sound with the highest pitch sort of blends in with the sound of my fan and it is incredibly irritating.

Poll: Did You Know Loud Noise Could Cause Tinnitus or Hyperacusis?

If Tinnitus Is a "Problem" Only of the Inner Ear, Why We Have to Visit Other Doctors?

Haha, yeah. Also the fact that your hearing test went up to 20hkz. Most places in the US will only go up to 8khz, which is pretty useless for diagnosing tinnitus.

If Tinnitus Is a "Problem" Only of the Inner Ear, Why We Have to Visit Other Doctors?

Sounds like TMJ is the culprit. It's even more likely if you only have tinnitus in one ear. Also, just curious, but what country are you from?

If Tinnitus Is a "Problem" Only of the Inner Ear, Why We Have to Visit Other Doctors?

Kind of hard to understand your post, but if you're young and have no reason to believe you have excessive hearing loss or noise damage, it's definitely possible that your tinnitus is being caused by your jaw.

Doc Said My Tinnitus Is Most Likely from TMJ

There's no way to know for sure if it's from TMJ. I was hopeful that mine was from TMJ, and that it would go away, or at least improve, after getting a splint. Ear Crackling Help

Trying to Find a Cause (This Might Be Interesting)

The thing about hearing tests is, for the most part, they only go up to 8k, while human hearing goes up to around 22-23k. So, you can have a "perfect" hearing test up to 8k. but have hearing loss in the very high frequencies. Our hearing is naturally "damaged" as we age regardless, but is easily...

Trying to Find a Cause (This Might Be Interesting)

It is very likely due to listening to loud music, going to loud concerts/bars. Noise damage is cumulative, which is why, for many people, tinnitus starts out of nowhere one day.

If I Can Turn Ringing Noise On/Off at Will, Is This Still Considered Tinnitus?

How Did Your Tinnitus Start/When Did You Notice It the First Time?

It started almost a year ago. I went to sleep at around 9pm, and woke up 2 hours later. I had a little bit of wax impacted in my right ear, and it was bothering me, so I put my finger in my ear to try and remove some of the wax, and that was the first time I heard it. Sometimes I wonder what...

No problem, man. Just trying to be helpful. From what I've read, tinnitus caused by a sinus infection can still take some time to go away after the infection is completely gone, so don't go too crazy if it doesn't stop immediately.
