I don't know if I've ever mentioned it before, but I have three lovely pussycats - Annie, Percy, and TimTom. (tee-hee).
Pussycats are terrific therapy for Tinnitus, of course, and everything else, come to that.

(I do have to mention right now that there is a cat killer in our area - over 400 cats murdered and mutilated in the last three years. The bodies are disembowelled, left on your doorstep, or at the entrance to the nearest junior school.
Needless to say - I sincerely hope this perpetrator dies the most horrible of deaths.)

"KARMA - ARE YOU LISTENING ?!?!"

Sorry to have had to tell you that, but you will see the relevance.

Percival - Percy to his closest friends - likes to go outside for a midnight walk.
Obviously I can not let him go out on his own. So I take a flashlight, walk down the alleyway and out onto the meadow where he can explore and run about for half an hour.
It's pitch dark, but he loves to follow my torch beam around the park, and then we come home together.
You get the picture.

He always lets me know when it's
"walkies time" by going up to the front door, sitting down, looking over his shoulder, and just waiting for me to put on my shoes and coat. Usually between 11:00pm and midnight.

The other night it was absolutely freezing cold, I mean seriously cold, and blowing a gale.
Unperturbed, he walked up to the front door, sat down, and waited for me as usual.
I said
"Oh Percy - I do love you sweetheart - but I just can't do it tonight baby.
It's too cold. I'm sorry.
Perhaps we can go out tomorrow.
I'm sorry sweetheart."

(I talk to them like that - I'm a bit soft see.)

He didn't look all that impressed.
I got the 1,000 yard stare, that actually means "I thought you said you loved me?"

About ten minutes later, I'm looking all round the house for him, realising he'll be off somewhere sulking, but I just couldn't find him anywhere.
The little cupboard by the front door was half open, and so I looked inside.
There he was, up on the shoe rack,

"Standing Up Inside His Father's Walking Shoes."

He hadn't given up.
Talk about giving me a guilt complex.
I said to him "It's alright standing in my shoes sweetheart, but you're not entitled to give an opinion - until you've walked a mile."

Out of six pairs of shoes, he knows which one's I put on for a walkies.

I have to tell you - that cat has
a wisdom beyond his species.

(Sorry everybody - some pics came up twice.
More care needed.)

You have three beautiful cats @Jazzer The cat killer whom you refer, first started his killing campaign in London, Croydon, and was given the name: The Croydon cat killer. He used to only kill black and white cats. It got me quite concerned as I used to live in Streatham until I moved 4 years ago and have a black & white cat. Assuming the killer is a man, he has now moved south, to Brighton where I live, 50miles away killing cats of any colour. There have been reports of cats been killed up North too in the same manner. Beheaded and left outside owner's home. He must have a micro-chip scanner in order to know the owner's address.

@Michael Leigh - the nearest to me was one mile away. These horrific crimes apparently happen at night time.
My three go out in the daytime, but I usually go out to the meadow and call them in after an hour or so.
But at night I go out with Percy, when it's not too cold.

I love bunnies too. I had a mini lop called Bart growing up and he was adorable, I miss him a lot. Rabbits are wonderful pets.

I had a white rabbit. Friends bought him one Easter to entertain their nieces, but at the end of the day they didn't know what to do with him. Someone suggested setting him "free." But I knew a white rabbit would not survive in the suburbs, so I took him home for the night and ended up keeping him forever.

@Jazzer that's truely worrying and I hope no harm will come to your cats. I grew very concerned when I read in the Argus, a newspaper local to Sussex, that the cat killer is here! My cat freely goes out and comes in at all different times of the day. She gets very miserable if I try to keep her in. I took care of the cat which belonged to my late mother.

Annie top
Percy next
TimTom bottom.

Annie comes and goes as she pleases, using the catflap - so I can't control her.
The boys I let out for up to an hour at a time.
As you say Michael, cats love to have some freedom time.
I just try to watch everything around here, and be cautious.

Have you ever tried walking a cat on a leash Bill?
They hate it, and resist it, with all four legs locked down. I bought a leash harness for mine.
All you end up doing is 'taking them out for a 'drag!''
lol I tried that too. Thought about just plopping him on a skateboard.

Have you tried walking the cat while the cat is wearing a leash?

When I moved from London I was advised to keep my cat in the home for two weeks to get used to the new surroundings. After that time walk the cat outside around the garden, on a leash for a further week. The cat hasn't worn the leash since and I don't think it would take kindly to it now. I also think I would get some strange looks from my neighbours if I were to do so.

Thanks for the tip.
Michael

@Jazzer, my cat would make so much trouble it's not worth the aggravation. I had to take it too the vet last week, for it's annual health-check and booster vaccination and what and ordeal. Anyone would think I'm trying to cause it harm. The constant meowing at high volume in the car not good for anyone with hyperacusis. Glad I no longer have it.

@just1morething, I had a cat that looked identical to your best friend. I loved him so much. He lived to be 15 years old. I still tear up when I think of him.

How fortunate he is to have found you.❤️
Thank you! He is one of the most mellow cats I have ever been around. I was used to short hair cats
but a Maine Coon is a great cat to have. Fluffy lion is his name.

I couldn't agree with you more @just1morething, the Maine Coon is the best of the best. My guy was BIG, much bigger than many small dog breeds. He was big-boned and had a beautiful thick, long coat. As he aged he did put on weight, loved him some banana muffins and warm buttered popcorn. He cold hear you open a bag of chips from the back of the house, where his bed was. When anyone commented on his "size" I just told them that he was big-boned.☺️

it's horrible.
Why is this maniac still not caught and not punished by a court of lynching or imprisoned?
I would personally track down this monster and turn his neck.
