- Still investigating. TMJ maybe
Hi,
Alex, 37, T since 7 weeks. Very high pitched one (13 khz) on the left, can be very piercing, and sometimes it migrates on the right, lower pitched and softer (almost nothing in the left ear).
I love to listen to music, but had always taken care of the level because my dad used to abuse of headphones at high level. A highway trip in my 25 years old car is way more aggressive than my usual listening-level Only a dozen of concerts in my life, the last one without earplugs was in 1993. And it was the only time I had some T, never encountered the issue ever since, even for a brief period of time.
Lots of jaw pain / temporal headaches did appear at the exact same time on the left, and the migration of my T began 2 weeks ago with pain's appearance on the right side of my jaw...is TMJD a cause or a consequence ? Time will tell.
So far, 3 audiologists, heavy prednisolone treatment at the very beginning even if there wasn't any trauma, hearing is perfect (dip @ 13 khz is 5db...), and level as well as location of T seem very sensitive to muscles tension. I did try some osteopathy and got real silence for one hour after manipulation of my neck.
One of the audiologists and my dentist told me about TMJD, the audiologist said my jaw could be off and gave me some exercises to make + muscular relaxants, it looks like it improves a bit the condition.
I've also had an entire evening of real silence after a shower, but so far there's always something ringing in the ear, continuously hissing. Hopefully no real sleeping issues, as far as I'm on the correct side (usually the right one). One night, my T was so low I even suceeded in using earplugs because of outdoor noise (party going on in the neighbourhood)
I've also been on some ginko treatment for 4 weeks, no effect so far but doesn't hurt neither. Sometimes the headaches / jaw pain are a far worst issue than T, sometimes T seems as piercing as bad chalk on a board
Next step, stomatologist (maxillofacial specialty) end of august. Hoping it will get better until then (highly doubtful about pain), even if it's only habituation
Open to any suggestion / inputs, and happy to see a "success" category in this community
