13 Months with Tinnitus. First 8 Months Constant, Last 5 Months Has Become Intermittent.

You are welcome. No reason to suffer from this as there are some solutions and options here. Really just need to come up with some workable solutions that work for you. While it takes time, it me months of trial and error to figure out a lot of this, it can be done.

I use Avantek earplugs, that are rated at -18 db. They are a knock off of Eargasm, and I got them on Amazon.

The problem with the db meter on the phone is they are not calibrated. The iPhone ones tend to be better as the hardware is more standardized. The android ones, well not so much.

Good luck with it, but I would protect as you already have some hearing loss, and the T should improve if you stop setting it off. I would also keep a pair of muffs handy for a fire drill as they can exceed 100 db, and those musician plugs will only be partially protective for such loud sounds.
You're right. My t was loud today, but seems to have settled down now that I've been home awhile. Its no wonder that my t was quiet Mon. and Tues., but ramps up every Wed. The weekend affords My ears a break. Its reacting to the noise exposure at school I imagine. I know if I can get a break I'll probably see some improvements. I'm going to order the ear plugs pronto. Thanks for everything.

Yes, and feel better with it. That pattern you describe totally fits. I would still get a db meter too, and document these sounds so you have objective evidence of the exposure. This is not going to be safe for your students either.

They probably have our alarm set on high. They installed a new one a few years back just like this school. There was a marked difference in volume between the old and the new. I'm going to discuss this with my building principal as well as my doctor. No way am I putting my hearing at further risk. So many parallels with these articles and my own experiences.

Exactly, sounds like what you are experiencing. Some measurement of the alarm going off would really firm this whole thing up I suspect. No reason for any of us to put our hearing at risk these days! NIHL is just about 100% preventable thankfully.
