Every day, disastrous—and likely illegal and criminal—decisions are being made by Donald Trump and his allies, including his associate Musk. I am working on a three-step plan to escape the terrible damage being done to this country.

First, two months from now, I will be living in Corpus Christi, Texas. After testing the waters there and brushing up on my Spanish, I plan to head to Mexico for a while. Eventually, I will make my way to Costa Rica, a place I should have moved to forty years ago instead of Hawaii.

This country will never fully recover from two Trump presidencies.

In New York City, the Trump administration is taking over the 7 billion dollar reconstruction of Penn Station, which is owned by Amtrak, the federally chartered railroad company that owns the train hub underneath Madison Square Garden. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says his agency will save taxpayers more than $100 million. NYS Governor Kathy Hochul, a Democrat who is often at odds with Trump, called this "long overdue" makeover a major victory for New Yorkers.

The MTA was originally awarded a $72 million Federal-State Partnership (FSP) Program grant in November 2024 to lead the station's reconstruction under the Biden administration. According to Duffy, the MTA has a history of waste, inefficiency, and mismanagement, and a new approach is needed. The switch is a win for all New Yorkers, as well as workers and tourists who commute to and from NYC.
