Cause of Tinnitus
noise exposure
Hi all, I've had t for 7 weeks now caused by noise trauma, really hit me hard, appears to be in my right ear, although the noise has changed a lot from head buzzing and a high pitched noise to just high pitch noise, as of today this has increased significantly in volume and am back to panic mode, very scared this will remain and not sure how to cope?

Welcome and sorry to hear that your a suffering @simb999.

But hey, here you are...

There is a whole load of good advice on here and many who suffer far more than I do.

Put anything in the search bar at the top and bingo !!

For what its worth and In total honesty...it may remain from time to come...but be positive....think that it wont...then it may not...also...a few things that helped me get used to monster T : -

Stay calm.:arghh:
Eat well.
Sleep well.(y)
Stay busy.(y)
Stay distracted.(y)
Don't focus on it.
Don't spend too much wondering Why ?
Don't spend too much time looking for a 'miracle' cure. If it existed then TT wouldn't:mad:
Don't use headphones.
Don't isolate your hearing but treat it gently. Its damaged, or its processing system is. It needs time to chill out
Find some background sounds, radio or music your T dosent react too and use it a lot at low volume over a speakers or pillow speaker.

Come here to vent when you need to...it can be a bit of a 'suffer-fest' at times...but a lot of folk are hurting really bad and you can 100% learn some useful tips.

Peace
X

Thank you for your reply kelvin, its much appreciated, it seems the increase in noise has put me back to the emotions of week one ie. Sheer panic. I've not actually seen anyone re. My hearing yet but doctor has referred me to ent in Jan and hopefully they may have some advice. Tinnitustalk has been really helpful especially the stories of hope, again many thanks for your support kelvin.

When I was in your shoes, I made use of low volume sound therapy and just gained lots of support. My audiologist was very instrumental, in my success of living with tinnitus and thriving with it.

@simb999 ,
Welcome to the forum and I am sorry you had to join. I am a tinnitus sufferer but not a tinnitus expert. I can only tell you that the panic part of this faded for me and it does for most people, though it can take many months. The people you see every day cannot understand what you are experiencing right now. It's a tough road in the beginning and we understand that here. I hope we can help you.

Most likely it will fade in time, but it may take many months.
