9 Weeks and No Improvement — Getting Louder, Can't Take This Anymore ;(

. First of all, a change from a ring to a hiss is Huge, as hissing is easier to bear. Second of all, of course fluctuation is preferable to T being relentlessly at the same level.

I take back my words, now it's back with a vengeance, so loud my ears hurt. Why isn't this improving at all.. I'm not strong enough to endure this. Woke up with raging T and I have no idea how this happened

These daily fluctuations are a fact of life with T. What matters are the global lows. Eventually, you ought to experience the low T that you had already experienced, and chances are it will continue fading.

The first few months can be hard and the turmoil of emotions like a rollercoaster but that will get better .

I just want to hear silence again... All this crying and panicking and not being able to sleep is taking a huge toll on me.

@Jemina Your problem may not be from a toxic drug or withdrawal if you woke up with raging T. It may that your problem is TMJ and/or caused from neck, specifically your C1 and C2 vertebrate being stressed. If this is your problem then support under your neck by use of a small pillow while sleeping may be a life changer for you. I would try not to sleep with your head too high. Sleeping on back or side and not stomach.

@Jemina,
Do you have allergies like a sinus problem ?
Sinus mucus at night can go down the back of your throat and in your tubes spiking tinnitus.
A nasil spray can help that.
Or as @Greg Sacramento says ,could be a neck problem or jaw problem if grit and grind your teeth.
Try practicing keeping your tongue and mouth relaxed @Jazzer is good for that advice and meditation.

I had a cervical MRI half a year ago, I have slight degenerative changes
It may that your problem is TMJ and/or caused from neck, specifically your C1 and C2 vertebrate being stressed.

I had an MRI of my neck on March (had numbness in my hands back then) and it showed that my C5-C6 are dehydrated and have shortened + but the other vertebrae are fine... :dunno:

A wrong diagnose would be thoracic outlet syndrome which I have seen wrongly mentioned here a few times, but the treatment that you could use would be the same. Loosening neck and especially the shoulders muscles with range of motion exercises. This will strengthen muscles and posture and take away any nerve pressure on the C5-C6. Nerve pressure rarely will show on a MRI.

Relax shoulders and move them around. Breathe in and out and with shoulders relaxed and stretch neck upwards to look were a wall meets the ceiling from about 5 feet from the wall. You could see a physical therapist and tell them what you mentioned in quote above and you will be shown the same exercises.

By using too high of a pillow while sleeping can definitely cause what you mention in quote above. Plus the neck needs to have support when sleeping with a rolled small towel or pillow.

Do you have allergies like a sinus problem ?

I have seasonal allergies but not severe enough to cause symptoms or affect my T.

Been crying all day because my spike is so unbearably and painfully loud my ears are on fire and my hyperacusis doesn't let me even mask it.. got severe myoclonus probably because of the stress... I know oxidative stress etc is very bad for the ears I wonder how much (irreversible?) damage this crying and stress is causing...

@Jemina,
Stress and anxiety will spike tinnitus but the crying is a natural release to emotions and good not bottling them up.

Try soft relaxing music that is below your tinnitus or mixing point and just try breathing slow and focus on the relaxing music .
With Hyperacusis tinnitus can seem reactive to sound as come under the same umbrella as Hyperacusis.
Are you still getting vertigo?

@Jemina I think that a good part of your problem is tight neck and shoulder muscles caused from tension. Exercise the arms - move them around, get some circulation going. Breathing exercises. Low salt and sugar. Drink enough water. Fish and vegies. Soft pink music - a running stream, brook, rain or waterfall to slowly increase sound tolerance for hyperacusis. Your pulsatile can settle down if you can relax. Any vestibular neuritis should disappear in 3 -6 weeks. I understand with lots of compassion, but you should see some improvement.

Please stay in touch with us and with me. Curl up on your side with a soft pillow under your neck or while on a couch.

@glynis

Haven't had vertigo for a while but severe nausea, most likely because of such severe emotional stress...

My ear muscle spasms are really bad today, can't concentrate on anything.

:cry:

@Jemina,
Get some Buccastem from the chemist or other anti sickness tablet as will help you feel a bit better.
Keep posting for support and hope you have support at home.

@Greg Sacramento

If I had any kind of somatic tinnitus, the pitch most likely would't be this high and steady..? Mine is so loud and very high pitched, can't reduce it no matter what I do :( some kind of horrible spike has been going on for at least 2 days.

I wish I at least knew what caused this spike. Not getting any better, really stressed.

That hissing sound I had before was just the calm before the storm I guess! Sigh...

@Jemina

You may have this going on causing some of your problems, but use some breathing exercises and get some other exercise, even walking.

Hmm.. diagnosis: not known...

Would it be possible for the ENT to miss diagnosing this? Don't trust those guys anyways.. useless when it comes to tinnitus and hyperacusis.. my ENT said he also has tinnitus but it's mild, barely noticeable.. lucky him...

Let's hope so. My ENT said that if my T is very high pitched, it will probably stay like that and there's not much I can do about it. He even told me not to wear earplugs unless exposed to really loud sounds etc. Useless, even harmful advice... It's so sad that so many ENT doctors have no clue what they are talking about! So many of us have probably got harmful advice from them...

Before you try any medications, find out if they are what's called 'ototoxic'. That will make things worse.

Many people on this site initially had high-pitch T that later changed to a hiss.

I think you will be better off if you stop seeing that person.

when/if fx 322 comes out, and if it helps tinnitus, then it will probably help people with high frequency T the most, as that is the biggest part of the cochlea, and what's encouraging is that the mice in the initial studies had very good response to higher frequencies.

This loudness is unbearable, not getting any better. I can hear it over everything.

I'm not strong enough to endure this torture.

I was the kind of person who really needed silence. Can't function without it.

This is hell. I have to get out of this now

My tinnitus is so high pitched and loud and it will never fade... I know a few people who have T but it's a barely noticable hiss...

I used to love being in silence, reading books, meditating, listening to the sound of nature...

Why does this horrible condition affect these kind of people???

If I had a bad day, the only thing that calmed my mind was silence..

Without silence there's nothing left... Nothing... This is nothing but torture and it will never end... No cure... Nothing :cry:
