A Possible Help for Tinnitus? Chinese Herb Er Long Zuo CI Wan

@MikeP505 Well I haven't ;D I've had my T since 27th september and it's still not gone. I think i've habiutated or what ever its called cause it does not bother me. I have concentration problems so the fun thing is its the reason why I cant concentrate to my T. I concentrate on other things around me. I tought i would never say this but im so glad I have concentration problems cause its really saved me in the long run. When ever i sleep on my right ear to my pillow it seems like my T goes to that side or if its on the left side its seems it goes that way? Do any of you experience that as well? I only hear my T during the night and sometimes in the morning. Its like someone is whistling behind my ear... But im staying positive :)!

im staying positive :)
That really is key. Stay positive.

Unfortunately my T never shifts, lowers, or spikes. Makes no difference how I sleep or what side I sleep on. It is always very loud, a very high pitch steam whistle, and each ear is close in frequency. The odd time my left ear will do something weird like, it's going offline or something. I get this real low tone and muffled feeling for about 15 minutes then that fades and I return to just the high pitch I normally hear. What makes my situation a little more difficult is I totally lost all my hearing other than some "residual" hearing in my right ear. I can hear loud bangs, alarms etc in my right ear and it bloody well hurts!

I think I have habituated about as much as I possibly can now. Had this at this level since my kidney surgery in 2011. I have already been thru hell, danced with all the devils and nasty thoughts, taken different meds and treatments and still here I am. Loud T that goes on 24/7/365! Flipped my life completely upside down! Went from doing well at work and home to bankruptcy, poverty and lost family and friend support. Pretty much had to fight a difficult war alone.

This is now my life. My new life. It's not the same life as I once had but it's my life today and you accept and move on or let it kill you. I still have some fight in me!! I will continue this war with T alone until something positive comes along or I run out of energy.

Until then, I remain positive and hopeful! Keep pushing hard everyone and best wishes from a friend in Canada.

I look at these issues I suffer the same way as a game played. When you play a video game or board game against someone, you play to win. Once in awhile you may choose to play poorly so your opponent feels better. Might be your child trying to beat you in a card game or something so you let him/her win.

Tinnitus is on a different level of the gaming field. It really can be a threat to your life. I am tired of bending to make others feel better. Tired of giving in and attending functions and parties so they feel better. They see me as a normal looking, walking, eating, dressing, driving human being but they can't fathom the war I am in. Once I finally put my foot down and said I no longer wish to attend most functions and hope you understand, they pretty much discard this as a weakness or cop-out. Believe me there is nothing more I enjoy than attending a good party with friends or good family! Because I am deaf now and with this tinnitus, I attend yet am left standing alone often, as people just do not wish to write things down to chat with me. I make a point to attend only the most important functions like weddings and funerals. At a wedding I typically only stick around until the marriage vows are done. I usually get up, hug the bride and groom, wish them well and head out the door.

I still get shit from people even today for not going to dinners or other large gatherings. If I go then I basically tossed in the towel to please others. Usually end up feeling very alone during my attendance and feeling stupid later for giving in.

It's a new life for me. My friends and family all believe I should easily live my old life. I tried. Can't do it anymore. Had to move beyond making others feel better and look after myself at all costs. The cost of losing friends and family, jobs, etc. It is what it is. I am thankful for forums like this where others understand your plight and fight. Makes it easier to push forward with this new and unexpected life.

@MikeP505 we are all here for you Mike, maybe we can't be there physically but you still have support all over the world. As Micheal said, your a survivor of the highest order. Keep calm, you never know how life can shift. Maybe in 5 years a cure will be made and you will live the rest of your life in silence and the way you always wanted, never lose hope and just stay positive. Everyone with T are just getting tested, but a test is not permanent. It will end with time but the thing is we never know when.

Still waiting for my shipment of Er Long.......... Looking forward to giving it a go. Ordered just 3 bottles to start and see. A couple months worth. Should be long enough to test for any decrease.

You know, I was at a Chinese traditional medicine guy when this all started, and he said that tinnitus means kidney deficiency or something, and gave me some pills to take; eight 3 times per day. I'm gonna take a photo, I wonder if this is similar stuff.

It does say it's for kidney yang and that other stuff is for kidney yin..? Lol..

On the bottle it says: traditional Chinese medicine to warm and replenish the kidney yang. Traditionally used for insufficient of the kidney, waist and knee acid cold, breast swelling, urinary problems, phlegm and cough, diabetes.

As you can see, the English is right on. Although I don't suffer from knee acid cold, I sure hope that those that do find a cure.

They may be the same. The amount taken seems to correspond with the Er Long. There a few Er Long's tho, as I found out. They all work to better the kidney function and have been known to reduce tinnitus and increase hearing. Er Long Zuo Ci Wan, Er Long Zuo Ci Paing etc etc. Slightly different ingredients I guess. I wouldn't doubt you have the Zuo Ci Wan there. Might want to take the rest and see if it helps your T??

Although I don't suffer from knee acid cold
They typically sell in the 100's per bottle, and you take 6 or 8 little pills 3 times a day. Some are 5x concentrate so you need less, but the cost is still around the same daily.

find a cure.
I think you might need to be on them steady for a couple months to begin noticing any real improvment. Not exactly sure but this is why I ordered 3 bottles. One bottle will only last 20-24 days. So by the end of the second bottle I will have an idea if they help or not. Sure can't hurt. The reason for the 3rd bottle is IF they do help, I will have them while awaiting another order for 10 bottles lol.

Er long Zuo Ci Wan

Tinnitus is a complex condition and anyone experiencing it and wants help, should first see their health care provider, so tests can be carried out to find what is causing it.

Clonazapam is sometimes prescribed for people with very severe tinnitus but it can be addictive if taken in high dosages. Furthermore, if taken too regular the body quickly habituates and the drug loses its effect. This can lead to larger amounts been taken and if one isn't careful addiction can set in. Clonazapam helps me but wont help everyone and it can have unpleasant side effects. Fortunately, I take a low dose and only when required which isn't often and haven't noticed any ill effects.

Similarly, I believe some complimentary medicines and tinnitus devices can help alleviate symptoms for one person, while doing absolutely nothing for another because again, we are all different. For some years now I have been taking a Chinese herb called: Er Long Zuo CI Wan, to help treat my tinnitus and find it helpful in reducing the noise; and haven't got to rely so much on taking my clonazapam, unless my tinnitus reaches very severe levels and this is sustained for three days or more.

In the passed I have stopped or reduced taking Er long zuo ci wan, to see whether the reduction in my tinnitus was psychosomatic. On every occasion I noticed an increase in the tinnitus to uncontrollable levels withing a few weeks. My tinnitus ranges from silent, mild, moderate, severe and very severe.

Whether this Chinese herb will work for anyone reading this post and wants to try it I don't know but just wanted to share with you what has helped me. It is widely available in Chinese herbal shops/stores and also online. It may help someone have a better quality of life and then it might do nothing, the choice is yours.

It is made by various companies and is sold in small plastic containers. Each holds 200 small pills the size of a pimento. The dosage is: 8 x 3 times a day. Anyone wishing to try it, then I'd give it a go for two months and three the maximum. There is plenty of information and reviews on online just Google it.

Wishing you all the best
Michael

I have tried Er long Zuo Ci Wan with mixed [opposite] results: sometimes it diminishes my tinnitus to the point of barely hearing it, and sometimes it increases it loudly.

Has anybody had this experience?

Do you think it might be part of the healing process, as it balances the yin kidney energy?

Hi Michael - do you still take this and if so where do you get it from please?

HI @Allan1967

I only saw your post by chance. For some reason I didn't get a PM alert.

I found Er Long Zuo CI Wan very helpful when I first got tinnitus 23 years ago and believe it helped to reduce my tinnitus over a period of time. I took it on a regular bases for about 18months. I returned to using it in 2008 after my 2nd noise trauma. However, my tinnitus was quite different the second time around having large fluctuations in intensity and wasn't quite sure it was as helpful but did take it for around 6 months. As you know it took 4 years for me to habituate and by this time I was using TIEX tinnitus therapy device, so took Er Long Zuo CI Wan periodically.

It is available at Chinese herbal shops. I bought mine from ebay and found the prices cheaper there: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=Er+long+zu+ci+wan&_sacat=0

I no longer take it.
Michael

Sorry, but this is nonsense as are 100% of the so-called treatments to date. Hopefully, it will not do any harm apart from the cost and the false hope. Those of you on regular medications for other medical conditions should be careful as many herbals will interaction with prescribed medications.

@Michael Leigh
