I disagree. I looked at the studies on TRT and took them as a whole; TRT is no more effective than positive thoughts. So @Michael Leigh is not 'weeding' out the bullshit. He may be trying to help but is doing so based on no evidence and the belief it helped him. The question is, how would he know it helped him? Did he clone himself and not use TRT to have a control comparison?

We could use exactly the same argument for the Tiex device he used. There is no evidence of an effect in studies, and there is one anecdotal push based on perceived effect without a control comparison.

Dr. Nagler claims otherwise about the ineffectiveness of TRT, look at his explanation.

That's just biased misinformation. That's not much different than @Michael Leigh promoting TRT.

If it actually worked well, you would see a lot of positive feedback and recommendations for it on the interwebs. But no, you usually only see that from people who have a personal benefit from providing it, such as counseling others at great expense.

TRT is not a cure for tinnitus, @Ivano_m, but when administered correctly, it can help people habituate to the condition. I have corresponded with some people who say they have had TRT, but in truth, they have had nothing of the sort. The treatment can last up to two years. Regular counseling with an audiologist/hearing therapist specializing in tinnitus and hyperacusis is required.

The patient is advised to wear white noise generators for up to 10 hours daily. These devices must be introduced slowly. The patient must also be open-minded about the treatment and incorporate positivity into their life. This could be starting a new hobby or interest to help them stop focusing on tinnitus. I have had the treatment twice and found it helpful.

His points are valid concerns, however there still is no evidence for its effectiveness.

@Michael Leigh sits in the sound exposure camp, and @Travis Henry sits in the opposite camp. For newcomers, the journey is to work out which side of the fence they feel will help them the most.

It's not quite sound exposure @Stayinghopeful, but rather "sound enrichment."
