In a one-of-a-kind manuscript, scientists successfully replicated aberrant auditory prediction patterns in tinnitus using two independent MEG studies.

It's a good quality study that replicated findings from the first study. It's well-controlled for hearing loss and age.

Findings? Significant differences in prediction values between tinnitus and healthy cohorts.

Aberrant Auditory Prediction Patterns Robustly Characterize Tinnitus

What does this mean?
It's a tough read. Dr. Will Sedley has been looking at prediction-based models, and this ties in. It mentions similarities between hallucinations. We expect sound; it is predicted. There is a different latency in tinnitus patients.

It means we're different, at least in one way, from normal people, and more research could be done to determine how much more different we are.
