Hi,
I don't really post here anymore much, because tinnitus isn't really one of the big problems in my life anymore.
However, I wanted to put a pin in this thread specifically: I've become convinced that this protocol was not really that helpful for me, and I wanted to underscore what
@J96 said above: these drugs are extremely dangerous, and not to be taken lightly, or, perhaps, at all. And if you do find relief from this protocol, use it only for the absolute minimum amount of time necessary.
I'd become convinced a year and a half ago that the Gabapentin wasn't really doing anything useful anymore. I started to taper off it, but then got COVID-19 pretty badly in November of 2023 and had some overall body pain issues, which "some research" indicated Gabapentin could be useful for, so I went back up to 600 mg from whatever low dose I was on at the time. I stayed there until the spring of '24, and it started to taper off.
When I got near the end of that taper, I also started to slash back on the benzo. By last July, I was down to 100 mg of Gabapentin and 1.75 mg of Klonopin, and all hell broke loose; I had a substantial recurrence of a long-dormant set of problems with the muscles and nerves in my pelvic floor, which caused tremendous pain and anxiety. As a result, I went back up to 600 mg of Gabapentin again and back to 2 mg of Clonazepam.
I've been managing the pelvic floor symptoms with a combination of physical therapy, mindfulness practices, relaxation techniques, hot baths, etc. I tapered off the Gabapentin completely between August and October and have remained off it. I have also lowered my dose of Klonopin gradually to 1.5 mg/day, which I have been riding at for the last month, and will reduce more with a goal of complete cessation in whatever timeframe is possible for me. I fully expect that some or all of my myriad problems, including tinnitus
maysee
temporary but extremely unpleasant spikes during this process, and that's just paying the devil his due for the "relief" I got from these drugs.
I have posted an overall take on my view of recovery, my own process, and myself in success stories:

Best wishes and warm regards to everyone, and be careful with drugs.
