I have never used Neuromodulation tones. It has been around for a while and needs to be administered/setup through a specialist clinic. The treatment is expensive which will not come as a surprise. Some people have tried a DIY method. Youtube has plenty of sounds but as I said never tried it.

I have been using a TIEX tinnitus therapy device for a number of years. It is expensive but works for me but doesn't help everyone.

Well sad to tell that it does not work on me anymore :( I don't know what has happened, maybe my brain figured it out or something?? Yesterday I could clearly tell that it lowered it because I have this clear ringing tone in my right ear and when I played the track it began fluctuating and then lowered. Now it does not work.

Oh well, maybe it will only work sometimes....I will keep the track in my favorites and try it every now and then.

Here it is for 6 kHz, and here it is for 7 kHz. To be efficient, you are supposed to target it to your own T frequency though. For example, if your T was at 6.5 kHz, these would not be the right therapy to listen to, according to the protocols specified in scientific literature.

Neuromodulation isn't about filling out what you can't hear. It's about dealing with T. It works if your T is tonal (or heavily concentrated in one location of the spectrum).
For example, you could have hearing loss from 6 kHz to 8 kHz, but have a 4 kHz tone T. Often the T is where the hearing loss is, so in your case it is possible that it is in the 6-8 kHz range, but it could be 6.1 kHz or 7.9 kHz. The only way to know is to do a pitch match. You can do that online for free. Here you can find the tools to figure out the pitch/frequency of your T.
Once you have that, you can start listening to sound therapy specifically built for that frequency.

About tonal T. ACRN does not increase the volume of my T. What it does. Using ACRN my T. has dropped in 2 years from 8400 Hz to 2200 Hz at the moment. I find a low pitch sound much more bearable than the original high pitch sound.
Question? Is it possible by using ACRN for a longer time that the T drops till zero = no sound = no T. Has anyone experienced this?
 
Tinnitus sound therapy, or acoustic neuromodulation therapy, using tones in the 13-14kHz frequency range.

I created this video on youtube after suffering from a raging tinnitus that developed after a series of loud concerts, and playing this in the background every day helped me reduce the noise. Especially useful for being able to fall sleep. I created this video with the frequencies that correspond to my tinnitus 13-14kHz so it may not correspond to your tinnitus, therefore you might need to create a custom one. The trick is to play a series of tones that are below and above your tinnitus frequencies in a pattern that a brain can recognize as a pattern, followed with a 30-45 sec of silence. This will actually help you perceive silence again, as it will take more than a minute for tinnitus to come back, therefore a combination of specific sound pattern and a silence is the most effective.




Play in in the background of your room just at the level of your tinnitus sound and it may help you perceive silence again. Listen to it in the background even if you are watching TV or listening to music. The effect depends on whether or not your hair cells in the inner ear are capable of receiving sounds of 13-14kHz range as with age our capabilities to perceive higher frequency sounds diminishes, so it may be possible that you wont be able to hear any sound then the therapy using this frequency range wont be effective, you would need to find the correct higher frequency range that your tinnitus corresponds to. If the damage that caused tinnitus is in the range of 13-14 Khz then stimulation of the remaining hair cells that are capable of collecting these sound waves would result in the activation of the regions in the auditory cortex that were partially missing the information from the ear and the brain will reduce the internal noise as the level of information sent to these regions is back to normal. Once this treatment is over tinnitus will come back but with prolonged treatment it may be possible to train the brain to ignore the phantom sound. At least this will make you go to sleep. Hi guys new to this form. Had Tinnitus for over 15 years :( its a killer likes and the past year has been the worst its ever been. I have been doing a lot of research and trying different things. Came across ACRN.

Its like 5 grand, a lot of money. But I have seen a lot of the youtube video of stuff exactly like it. Been using this one http://generalfuzz.net/acrn/ and a couple of youtube videos.

I find it hard to pin point the frequency of my tinnitus - its around 8000 to 10000. Anyone got any tips to nail it?

I actually have two frequencies in the right ear which is a killer. So its hard to pin point it.

Anyways I was wondering if I could use the ACRN type sound and then put some nice wave or ocean sounds over it? Or will this defeat the purpose of it?

I have TMD, so my tinnitus will most likely not be helped by it. I'm focusing on getting tinnitus reduction from TMD first, and if I'm not satisfied, then I'll give it a shot. Good luck reducing your tinnitus. If you achieve it, be sure to give a good post explaining what you did and what worked.
 
Ahh man that sucks! I actually found today if i put any movements or pressure on my jaw the tinnitus gets worse! Never new that. I think its neck problem for me.

That's great! Even if your tinnitus doesn't improve with that, chances are if the new Susan Shore device is tested and passed as a functional device around this October, then that means you have a good chance of reducing your tinnitus.

That's fine. It's a device that works like ACRN, but it's much more successful, but only for somasensory sufferers (people who can modulate their tinnitus with their jaw and neck). It shows pretty good promise and may be released as early as september this year, or maybe later like in 2020, but this is assuming the next trial is successful.

Its so frustrating the length you have to wait for all this stuff. Of course they have to test it a lot, but sometimes it can take like 5 years!
Sure but most of the testing is done. Just one more trial, and if everything doesn't go to crap, the most likely release date is in 2020. Be sure to read the signal timing thread I sent you if you're interested, especially the posts made in 2018.
