So I know I have not been diagnosed with Tonic tensor tympani syndrome yet but if they do I really don't care what happens I'll try muscle relaxants and stuff but if it is still here in 2 months time I'm cutting the muscle.

People shouldn't live like this. Tinnitus is bad enough and then not being constant is good but just some random swallow sets it off is just so annoying and I just can't put up with it anymore.

I don't care if it raises my tinnitus I will get the muscle cut this is just unbearable there is no talking me out of it and the thing I don't get is people have clicking and stuff constant so if I don't get diagnosed with TTTS then I have no clue what I'm gonna do.

Just saying I prob won't be here on earth sry to say but it just comes to that and I'm done.

Hi Eric,
See what ENT do for you or offer and hope that will make you feel more comfortable with what you hear and feel...
Stay positive for now....lots of love glynis

Take a bit of time to think this over. I had TTTS for many months last year. Constant clicking and thumping in both ears. Made sleep very difficult. I have not had anything for about 3 months now. Often the syndrome is associated with extreme stress. Cutting the muscle can lead to other complications e.g. amplified sounds from within the head. In the end it is up to you but time is a great healer with this.

So I grind my teeth at night and thinking about telling my gp and see if I can get a mouth guard cause I saw this http://www.ourpowercherryhill.org/t...aring-possibly-caused-by-spasms-of-inner-ear/ seeing my gp in 2 more days see if muscle relaxers will work or mabye try some magnesium and go from there my jaw hurts in the morning and my right ear thumps all morning till about 11:00 and goes away I'm thinking it's all because my jaw I have had tmj for almost 10 years and they say it gets worser I have visited a tmj specialist in 2013 but he said I did not need a splint or mouth guard idk because my jaw is sore in the morning it clicks and opens sideways I have a hard time opening it straight and sometimes I can't even open my mouth all the way unless I really try and a loud click comes out then my mouth opens all the way I was eating lunch with my mom at jack in the box and it clicked really loud and she said what was that I said it's my jawAnd I told everyone else I don't get the clicking in my ear or anything it's every time I yawn and I stretch my jaw muscle I get a fluttering sensation for 10-20 sec sometimes longer and then it only happens when I swallow cause I clench my teeth and jaw together to do it and then then the fluttering sensation is there really getting annoying been 3 weeks and no stopping this sucks it really is hard getting through the day I usually meditate to keep my mind off of it all I want is it to be night time so I can just go to sleep And another thing is it doesn't flutter when people talk or I hear a certain noise the only time it flutters is when I yawn or swallow so it's pretty weird and if I yawn with my mouth closed and try not to move my jaw muscle no fluttering

And mine is really defferent to others cause at least others get flutter in there ear once or twice a week or once or twice a day I have been getting fluttering in my ear about 30+ in a day depending how much I swallow or yawn it is so annoying and I just can't live like this it's to much

So I bought Afrin never used it cause siding think it was my tube but it stops the pounding in my right ear instantly but the left one still does what it does and it's not a thumping more like a spasm fluttering but at least I can get my right ear to stop and still can't pop my left ear right ear only pops And when I blow my nose my right ear only pops so I'm thinking I mite have etd And what's weird when I close my eyes kinda hard I hear the thumping every time I do this

so I told him at random times when I swallow or yawn I get a fluttering spasm for 20-30 sec sometimes a min and gets really annoying he said he never even heard of a ear spasm or the ent doctors he talked to doesn't know anything about that he said no fluid build up but in my left ear he says my eardrum is kinda bulging out he put me on Flonase spray for 1 month and he said mite be pressure or something but yea if anyone has any good ideas about how to live better without it going off 30-40 times per day unlike other people with once a week flutters I'm hoping I can get rid of this and he even told muscle relaxers and magnesium is nothing for that stuff so I'm just thinking he doesn't know much about this stuff and he never heard of the muscles spasming out in the inner ear I'm lost idk what to do now any help would be appreciated should I go to a neurologist or something cause my tmj and getting a mouth guard cause could be that too sooo much stuff can be goin on and I just don't know what else to do or try

And he said my left ear is pretty small compared to the right

Hi. Did you graduate elementary school? You don't know what a sentence, comma, full stop, paragraph means?

Reading your post gave me a headache...

Hi. I wonder why you created an account with TinnitusTalk in December 2013 but did not write your first post until three years later. That would be on December 19th, 2016 - to be exact. Which incidentally is four days after December 15th.

What happened on December 15th 2016 - can you guess?

I can... :D

Get a life dude. Stalking the forum is creepy af.

What?? All I'm asking is some help to reduce the ear spasm fluttering I want to know what other people take or do to decrease it

I think they were arguing with each-other, not you.

I'm not sure what to tell you. Do you have hyperacusis too?

Yeah, T that's just noise feels like a piece of cake when you have other symptoms that make things physically painful or uncomfortable.

Yea it sucks right now lorazepam is the only thing keeping me from going insane I get anxiety then I just take one of those and it makes me feel normal again I hate he feeling of anxiety I take one before bed but by the time I wake up about 3:00 am my heart is beating fast and I can't go back to sleep so I just lay there for 2-3 hrs then say fuck it I gotta get up

Taking antibiotics witch prob won't work but at least it's a try and I'll try muscle relaxers well that calm the fluttering spasm down? Or will it stop it cause I know nothing is able to stop it unless u take the surgery way out witch I really don't mind at this point 1 month in and really don't think I can live with it

Edit: not trying to babble on but is it the same? People say there ear flutters spasm with sound mine only randomly does it after I swallow as long as I don't do that I can keep it away for awhile no sounds hurt my ear idk just kinda crazy gp said my left ear is smaller then my right and my eardrum was popping outward a little gave me Flonase heard lots of negative about that working still wanna try to pop my left ear still cant

Took some magnesium high potency 400mg helps nerve spasms and heart it seemed like it was working no fluttering vibration for a whole hr it feel so good but I'll just keep taking one per day and do my Flonase that's all I have right now to work with

Edit: it actually helps with the noise and the fluttering where I don't really feel it mabye I found something but hey that's what I said last time

The trouble with surgery Eric, is that there isn't a good diagnostic model to tell anyone if surgery is the right option or not. There are people out there who have been rendered worse by this surgery, and there are people who seem to call it a cure of sorts. Thing is, if you push for surgery there is no way back if it were to turn out that your particular condition couldn't be fixed by it, and as I said, there isn't a sound diagnostic model so while it may seem like a decisive strike, (and we'd all like to do that), the reality is it could actually be as wrong a move as you could make...a gamble in other words...or as Japongus once called it: "a crap shoot". its something you can't really know the answer to until after it happens, and by then.....

Something to keep in mind. Not saying don't, just saying careful with your consideration.

Yea magnesium did not do anything still get vibration fluttering when I swallow randomly and yawn I'm guessing muscle relaxers are not gonna help either but that is my last chance to at least calm the spasms down sometimes I can go without for a good while then sometimes I get it every time I swallow and lasts 30-60 sec idk how I am gonna live with this compared to tinnitus this is hard I did get my left ear to pop finally in 3 weeks cause taking Flonase cause my gp does not know what a ear spasm is and never heard of it he said even the ents he talks to know nothing about it kinda made me feel left out in the dark I really don't like my gp need a new one And if someone can give me some advice information will something like this ever go away? Or at least get to the point where I don't feel it hear like my tinnitus I still hear it but just don't give a damn I'm hoping soon my brain will tell itself it's nothing and I can get some sleep keep having anxiety attacks sleep for 2 hrs wake up for 1 hr sleep for 2 hrs then wake up about 4:00 am and I just lay there for 2-3 hrs and can't go back to sleep and my heart races cause I just keep thinking this is gonna be with me for life it really does suck

And another thing people with it that I always read has it for days weeks then goes away days or weeks mine is not constant but it's still there no matter what when I swallow wish it would at least leave for a day or two

I've had this random muscle spasm for almost three years, gets a little better and then comes back. I find when my neck and body are sore and tense it happens more often.

The always consistent issue for me is that my left ear goes into painful spasms everytime I talk, or basically anytime a sound is initiated, this noise induced seems to be the worst for me, it is extremely painful, like the muscle pops in a attempt to protect my hearing somehow. It feels as though I just blew my ear drum, also causes dizziness, it's very intense and painful.

When I get the random fluttering with no noise, it's not painful, just annoying, sounds like someone tapping a microphone inside my ear, not sure what to make of it all. eNTs look puzzled when I describe this to them.

The T and hearing loss is the worst issue for me , however this is the icing on the cake. Not being able to talk or flick a light switch without the sensation of a explosion in the ear is very tough. By the end of the day I have ear pain and a fatigued ear feeling.

Not sure if Botox could help this issue, basically freeze the muscle temporarily? Maybe someone has already mentioned this. Would Botox in the general area not freeze everything? Sorry if this sounds like a stupid idea, I have no clue, not very technical when it comes to a lot of this.

Man that must suck I don't have any of that it just starts doing what u said when ever I yawn or swallow and it is just so annoying u had to put up with this for that long and everyday was the same? Kept making u really annoyed right now the only thing that is helping me is beer and YouTube, music life sucks so much right now I'm gonna try muscle relaxers but I doubt that is even gonna work for me

So after reading this thread, I'm wondering if I have this too. I have very loud reactive T, H, occasional fluttering in on ear and a delayed ear popping/click about 2 seconds after swallowing. Also when it came on full force I had ear pain which I still get occasionally as well as ear fullness in both ears . What do you guys think?

@Eric Fridley I read some people on the benzo forum had this and a lidocaine injection helped. Didn't reduce T but took care of the other symptoms.
