Alien Noises, Not Ringing: Does Anyone Else Experience This Kind of Tinnitus?

Does anyone else experience this?

One of my tones sounds like someone rapidly banging a metal trash can lid up and down in my head—not in my ears. This one bothers me the most, and I can almost physically feel it in my head.

Another tone sounds like a rapid "boing" that ping-pongs back and forth.

Another sounds like a creepy, fluctuating synth violin.

I used to have typical ringing until I got steroid injections in my TMJ and took benzos.

Sadly, the "eeeee" sound I was so afraid of is nothing compared to these noises in my head now. Is there any chance they'll go away after I finish my benzo taper? I was on Ativan and then Valium for about four weeks. This week will mark week five.

If your tinnitus is similar to mine, you can count on it changing — you just won't know when. In a way, that's actually good news because it means it will change at some point. Hopefully, you can cover it up now with some different sounds. The small sound machines with multiple sound options are dirt cheap on eBay.

Unfortunately, the medications you mentioned being on might make it difficult to see a big improvement. I tried a new blood pressure medication the other day, and within a few hours, my tinnitus got much louder.
