Tinnitus Since
10/2014
When I enrolled into the am101 trial that I had heard about on here I promised myself I would update everyone on my results. At the beginning of the trial my tinnitus was I felt 8/10 and some days 9/10. After the injections my tinnitus quickly improved and at the 2 week mark I was consistently at 2/10 and many days 1/10. The positive results have remained. Right now I'm at about 1/10. It doesn't noticeably fluctuate. I was about 2 months into tinnitus when the injections were given. If anything changes for me I will make another update. I hope others attain similar results.

How did you sign up for this? I am barely 2 months in-have been told it has to be within the first three months...I am in North Carolina....

Awesome, @ahs. One can assume it was the drug -- although there is no way to ever completely know for sure. Regardless, it's great to get an update and to hear you are doing so much better.

Can you describe the after-injections process please? Did the loudness of your T increase after injections? How long it took to go to the baseline? When did you start feeling the improvement?

Thanks.

@ahs That's great news and gives reason for hope, especially for those with acute tinnitus. I hope the reduction is permanent. :)

Yes, if this works for acute tinnitus (not the acoustic shock kind, don't really know why I have tinnitus) then I'll be getting me some of that.
And if it works for people who had years of T then maybe I'll send my old man that way too! He really screwed his ears in a tunnel explosion.

AM-101 is actually targeted at acute tinnitus caused by a traumatic event (acoustic injury, barotrauma, middle ear infection). They are recording patient history (I hope so at least). I guess we will have the breakdown of efficacy vs. tinnitus etiology.

Wouldn't this drug only benefit people with short term tinnitus and not long term tinnitus?
I'm actually in talks regarding the trial now and what I was told is they are only accepting people that meet the two requirements;

1. Have had tinnitus for less than 3 months
2. Tinnitus was due to an infection and not by loud noise.

It may be different depending on the study/who's running it, but that's exactly what I was told.

Luckily for me, I meet both of those requirements, so we'll see if I get accepted or not.

People whose tinnitus was triggered by loud noise not accepted? As far as I know, that's incorrect information. I wonder if there was a miscommunication / misinformation? Can you double confirm with the study center?

I'm still waiting to hear back, likely won't get an answer until next week, but I remember the persons exactly words regarding this. As this was my second time talking to them, the first time she flat out denied me as I didn't know the cause of the ringing. That changed once I said it was confirmed as an middle ear infection, course of treatment and my hearing charts.

What sorts of questions do they ask your when you go in for a pre trial evaluation? Anybody with experience in this?

Where are all these am101 people who are a year out ? Do they just stop coming to TT ?

I saw that a lot of them switched over to the
SilenceTalk.com forum

Check it out, some of the posts are pretty depressing :

"Can't take it anymore - this silence is killing me"

"Woke up to the sound of my heartbeat ! Please help"

"Neighbour's cat drives me crazy with the noise of walking over the grass all day"

And a real eye opener :

"Miss the good old days waking up with my tinnitus - do you think that going to 5 ac/dc concerts in a row standing at 2cm from the speakers will help getting my life back ?"

@Bobby B ?!?! Da fuq? I cant believe that. i'd be soo happy? I mean...silence :D thats all we want dont we? Sorry but I dont understand....

haha....you must be so cool....I read it very quickly, and btw there actually are
people who are saying that if their T wouuld leave them, tgey would feel like something is missing.

To be honest that sounds like some severe hyperacusis.
