Ambien (Zolpidem) Experiences?

Im still trying to figure out why after taking my nightly dose of Lunesta my T lowers by at least half. Is if because hypnotics are related to benzos that have been known to lower T? I cannot believe it's purely my anxiety coming down after taking and would love to know if it's a chemical reaction, possibly something that could be studied.

Eszopiclone's (Lunesta's) mechanism of action is very similar to that of benzos: they both bind to GABA receptors on neurons, which decreases their level of activity, which results both in sedation and (since tinnitus is often caused by hyperactive neurons) the reduction of tinnitus itself. When the effect wears off, the neurons resume their hyperactivity, thus tinnitus comes back. Other substances that affect GABA also often reduce tinnitus: for example, alcohol, or L-Theanine.

The mechanism is quite well understood. The trick is finding something that binds to GABA and is safe&effective long-term. Benzos and alcohol are addictive and unsafe long-term and I don't really know of any other options. L-Theanine seems safe and it does work for some people (including yours truly) but not everyone.

I got to get some, I average maybe 2 to 4 hours of sleep a night. Right before I enter my sleep I get this adrenaline rush type thing and then back fully awake then try again over and over. I need something to knock me out and keep me out. I didn't want to take this route but I feel I have no choice now.
