Hi all-
I am hoping someone can give me perspective.

I have had PT for two months. I have had all the tests which were negative. The only test left is the angiogram.

I am 49 and overweight. My father had a triple bypass at 57. I've always been worried about a heart attack. I suffer from neuropathy which I strongly believe was caused by long term use of Prevestaten. All other causes of neuropathy were ruled out.

I know I'm playing Russian roulette by declining statin treatment. Part of me wonders if I should have the angiogram w/ the hope of ruling out heart issues. Then again there are risks. Is a small risk worth heading off a potentially fatal heart attack?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

@Baxette,

I don't know anyone personally who has had an angiogram, but most of the people I've heard of have not had any problems with it. There was one woman on another forum I belong to who had an unusual situation, where the doctor somehow nicked an artery during the procedure, and she had to take blood thinners for awhile afterward to be sure nothing went wrong. It didn't, and she is OK now. That's the only person I've heard of who has had a problem with an angiogram.

Is this a cerebral angiogram? If so, the purpose of it is to detect any abnormalities in the veins or arteries in your head, to see if a cause for the PT can be found.
