Anguished Newcomer — Did Otex Eardrops Cause My Tinnitus?

Hi all,

I am a newbie on this site. I have had tinnitus for 6 weeks now.

At the end of January I had my left ear blocked up. I took Otex drops for 3 to 4 days. I felt it fizzing and crackling although I could still hear.

My hearing felt muffled and that there was still something in my ear.

I put in some more drops the next day.

Then it started ringing in my ear. I went to the doctor, he said I had catarrh behind the eardrum and that it should clear in 3 weeks.

I then went back and the ear canal was clear but I still have ringing in my ears now.

I've been in high anxious state all this time. No sleep or appetite.

Have I given myself a lifetime sentence by using too much Otex? Could that have caused the ringing in ears?

Way too early to panic. Sounds like you may have a ear issue causing what may be temporary hearing loss resulting in Tinnitus (ringing in head). If your ears clear up, the ringing may very well subside. Keep us posted.

I doubt it.

You report fluid behind your ear drum, which I imagine is due to a middle ear infection (otitis media) - is that what you were diagnosed with? Did your doctor give you antibiotics?

I can hear out of both ears. First doc i saw said there was nothing to take for it, that it would clear on its own. 2nd doc gave me steroid spray.

I have a similar issue and on nasal steroid spray, I have been on the spray for 3 weeks now..

I have had T for a month now, just wondering did this issue resolve of you?

Probably not. They have invented amazing drugs that regenerate the cochlea. Two companies, one in America and one in Europe, are nearly half way through clinical trials and the results are looking very promising.
