Hi guys. I'm doing pretty good. Almost three years into this madness.

After I got tinnitus had to quit my job. My new job is working night shifts in hotel.

Here is the catch. I never see people anymore. I go work, and go home sleep. I'm fine with being alone but it would be nice to have the opportunity to go out sometimes too.

Could anti anxiety help me with this. Lets say i take a pill, then go out somewhere and meet peole and maybe hit some girls.

Anyone tried this solution for socializing?

Why take pills to go out and meet people? Does socialising cause you anxiety?
There's many ways of meeting girls, including online options (Tinder, OKC,...).

Why did your job and T did not go well together?

Benzodiazepines are usually prescribed for such cases (social anxiety disorders), mostly because they tend to reduce (or some might say, impair) certain behavioral defense mechanisms. I happen to know a person who just can't stand any public place without xanax, but that's an extreme case.

Drugs might be a solution but I would just stick to the old tried recipe: go out with a friend on your day off or the weekend (having a familiar face around is always nice), have a couple of drinks to relax a bit, make simple conversation with a girl you like. Like saying hello and introducing yourself.

No need for drugs, you seem to be doing quite well.

There's many books on social dynamics, youtube vids on how to approach girls etc. I'd start with those instead of popping some pills.
It's a lot of trial and error, but if you're smart and funny, you already go a long way.

Talking therapy is good for regaining social skills.
We are not born with social skills and tinnitus can take away our confidence so social skills have to be built up again.
A short term medication might help you but I'm sure once you start to mix with people again you won't want to stop and your confidence will back ....lots of love glynis

Lyrica is great for social anxiety or gabapentin.

"Long-term trials have shown continued effectiveness without the development of tolerance, and, in addition, unlike benzodiazepines, it has a beneficial effect on sleep and sleep architecture, characterized by the enhancement of slow-wave sleep.[25] and produces less severe cognitive and psychomotor impairment; it also has a low potential for abuse and dependence and may be preferred over the benzodiazepines for these reasons"

I worked in Security. I had to do deal with a lot of noise in the old job. My current job as night skift in hotel is as silents as it gets.

I get alot of earpain when Im in noisy places. Thats why i had to quit eventually, that is why its so hard to socioloze too. Whenever I go inside a bar or something I get a really bad airpain. Not easy to socialize then.

Danny, can you post the link to the Lyrica article itself? I'm interested in learning more. The quote you posted only has links to Wikipedia articles.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION:
Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is one of the most common psychiatric disorders, causing a reduction of in the quality of life by impairing functioning in social situations. The lifetime prevalence of SAD is estimated to be 12%. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) are considered first-line drugs for SAD. However, new effective therapeutic options are still needed. Pregabalin is a novel anxiolytic, which seems to be a promising therapy for SAD.

AREAS COVERED:
This review presents the results of three randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing the efficacy and safety of pregabalin with placebo in patients with generalized SAD. The authors also discuss the long-term safety and tolerability data from an extension study.

EXPERT OPINION:
The results of the RCTs have demonstrated efficacy and safety with pregabalin at doses of 600 mg or 450 mg/d for treating generalized SAD. Thus, pregabalin may be an effective therapeutic option, especially for patients who cannot tolerate the adverse effects or who demonstrate a lack of efficacy with SSRIs or SNRIs. In addition to being an alternative therapy to SSRIs or SNRIs, it may also have value as an add-on therapy, either to augment pharmacotherapy or in addition to cognitive-behavioral therapy.

Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of pregabalin for the treatment of generalized social anxiety disorder (SAD). Patients with generalized SAD, who met the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (fourth edition) criteria (total N=329), were randomly assigned to 11 weeks of double-blind treatment with fixed daily doses of either pregabalin (300, 450, and 600(mg) or placebo. The treatment with pregabalin (600(mg) was associated with a significantly greater mean reduction in the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale total score, from baseline to endpoint, compared with placebo (-29.8 vs. -19.7; P= 0.0099), whereas reduction on pregabalin (300(mg, -20.2) and pregabalin (450(mg, -25.5) was not significant Treatment with pregabalin (600(mg) was also associated with a significantly greater improvement than placebo on the fear and avoidance subscales of the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale, as well as the majority of other secondary measures. Onset of improvement occurred by week 1 in the pregabalin 600-mg dose group. The most common adverse events on all three doses of pregabalin were somnolence and dizziness. Consistent with a previous study, the results of this study suggest that the 600-mg dose of pregabalin per day may be efficacious in the treatment of SAD.

Is the ear pain a sign of H?
I read your success story, it sounded quite upbeat, but does not mention the pain.
Wishing you best!

No. I dont think it is H. I think it is because of my ear trauma. Sometimes the pain comes even when its silent.

Yeah. I stand by my successtory. But we all have ups and own. T is not the problem anymore.
