Cause of Tinnitus
Stress? Pepcid? Airplane? Delayed onset from club 12 days b4
I see an ENT tomorrow and possibly a TMJ specialist next week.

I've had bilateral tinnitus a few months now but my symptoms are so strange. Today I have very intense head and neck pressure and the pressure in my ear is soooo heavy. Almost like glue. I'm quite confused.

The pressure in my face also moves around at times like it feels like my jaw is pulling different directions and the pressure in head feels like someone is pushing down on it in different locations.

These symptoms are so strange.

If it helps, I did experience neuropathy in the past from a B1 vitamin deficiency but I've been healthy since, I have acid reflux and I also have a gluten allergy (Celiac). Anything else I can't think of besides previous anxiety in the past but I meditate consistently now and I am not anxious besides from these strange symptoms. I am an overall healthy person.

Anyone else know what this is? Seems like way more than Eustachian Tube Dysfunction is going on.

What did your specialist say? TMJ was on my quick mental list, given your symptoms. Glad you are trying to rule that in/out.

I think that is related to either TMJ or neck. Try stretching your neck and shoulders.

A brief note: if you do a TMJ MRI you won't be able to protect your ears. If you plug them it won't suffice because you have to open your mouth for that particular MRI test (the jaw MRI) and then sound will kick in through your mouth, and on plugged ears.

I saw the ENT today. He said I should most likely see a Neurologist to rule everything out. I asked if he's seen people with ETD issues have head pressure as well, he said he's "seen everything" and based on my history of having neuropathy due to a vitamin deficiency last year, he said I should get a second MRI.

Well that's unfortunate. The lady at the front desk asked me for my symptoms and because I didn't have any jaw pain, she said I should see my PCP first. I'll do a Neuro appointment first. I'm hoping all of this is from some anxiety I haven't yet recognized.

Have you seen anyone for this?
I've been trying. GP doesn't take it too seriously, but I have a phone appointment with an ENT later this week. Very useful when you've had physical issues for MONTHS.

I do plan on seeing a dentist soon too, to get my jaw checked.

I believe my tinnitus is just a accumulation of many things going wrong in a short time span - but I also believe neck and jaw issues play part in it.

My advice would be going to the jaw doctor, the specialist for that specific part. If the doctor says with no doubt that your problem does not have to do with the jaw and the TMJ, then you maybe can skip the MRI.

This is based on personal experience, because I did exactly that, the doctor was pretty sure that the origin of my hearing problems was not the MRI, but I still did it... and regretted having gone through the TMJ MRI hell.

I just made a post because I get something similar in very silent rooms. It only happens in silence, like my tinnitus goes into overdrive and causes pressure in my head. How are you doing now?
