Anyone Else Mainly Sensitive to Digital Bass Noises?

Just bass sounds out of speakers. There's a lot of low tone sounds in everyday nature like winds etc, which feels great to hear and to listen to, but when I listen to wind sounds for relief from a speaker with even the slightest bass, it causes some discomfort.

I think the bass out of speakers is not in the slightest similar to the bass/low tones found in nature.

I have the exact same problem. Not just bass for me though. In general, any form of digital sound I find to be intolerable, whereas 'organic' sounds are much more doable. I can tolerate an ambulance passing by (with earplugs in though) a lot better than 5 minutes of music through my speakers at low volume. It's so odd...

My theory is that with tinnitus from NIHL, we are sensitive to certain frequencies, perhaps the one that caused it in the first place. In my case, that is the 4k sound from industrial equipment that set it off.

I think of it as "frequency hyperacusis" although I have not seen that term used by others before.

daily reminder that if hyperacusis sufferers don't lobby for medical treatments they are doing a huge disservice to themselves.

Frequency hyperacusis sounds quite accurate honestly.

I was outside last month, and aside from a few passing cars, I was ok without my earplugs as it overall was pretty quiet. I was enjoying being outside thankful at the improvement in my T, and all of a sudden my neighbor across the street, and up a house (not particularly close) turned on a shopvac to clean the inside of his car. I can assure that the volume of this was not high at all. However, within a few seconds, I got this annoyance in my ears. I stuck it out for a few minutes, but was glad to go inside, and felt instantly better. There was no spike or anything, but I concluded that at least for now I am particularly sensitive to that frequency of sound- hence the term frequency hyperacusis.

I am curious if others have noticed this happening to them as well?

This totally makes sense. A loud lower frequency bus or subway passing me (clocking over 100 dB) doesn't usually do anything significant.. but, wow, my one ear was very much affected by pulling some zip ties the other day! The zip ties WERE loud (like 110 dB peak within a foot or so), but I actually think it was the plastic teeth impact sound and the resulting high frequency that really did my ear in. Ditto for tape guns and tape pulling sounds (which are also really loud it turns out).
