You all ever woke up a few hours into sleeping and you wake up with your tinnitus being extremely louder. I woke up today at around 2 in the morning with my really loud tinnitus and with my head buzzing. It subsided after maybe 20-30 minutes. Is this normal? Is it something to worry about?

It's happened to me a number of times in the past, but as time progressed it's happened less and less. I no longer notice my tinnitus when waking, unless I consciously think about it. I suppose you call this habituation.

Yes, this happens to me, that my tinnitus wakes me up and it's extremely loud. There have been periods of time when it wakes me up 3 to 5 times a night, which is really disruptive. I don't know what the tinnitus is doing in my brain while I'm actually asleep, but it's rare for me to sleep through the night anymore, and I'm always tired when I wake up.

Actually the brain does not really go to sleep completely. It does these circadium rythem cycles.
It is difficult for sure. For the past 2 years i have been taking a sleep aid. That way i feel refreshed most mornings.
Its hard to deal with the T most days so its so important to get rest. You can try also to do other activities, like take
a hot bath, relax an hour before needing to be asleep. Also avoid blue and white light like the ones given off by
electronics. Examples are cell phones, ipads, computers and televisions. Experiment with it you have nothing to lose.

After 3 years of T which never did weird things in the night this last 6 months I have had spikes day and night. It could be my general state of mind to be fair. But I am learning that when I wake it sounds louder but as I move about its not necessarily loud.

And how are you doing now? Doing better? Not the tinnitus itself but you emotion and reaction toward it?

I am doing markedly better than where I was six months/one year ago. However, I am still not quite there. I often experience throbbing ear aches throughout the day from noise exposure. I don't use hearing protection because I am not in any environments loud enough to damage my hearing. But the pain does make me more away of the tinnitus which can make it harder for me to function...again, much better than before. Hopefully by the end of the year I will be back to normal! :)
