I have very loud tinnitus, so am I less likely to experience remission than someone who only hears it in a quiet room? Or is it all subjective? Also mine isn't caused by noise trauma but by ototoxicity.

Can you mask your tinnitus? If so what kinds of things mask it, does the shower mask it? If not then it's pretty loud.

As far as likelihood of going away, there is not data saying one way or another. It does seem, however, that noise induced tinnitus is the least likely to go away especially if it's long term noise exposure. I think volume does play a huge roll in how quickly people are able to habituate to their tinnitus.

recently it's not maskable whatsoever. I don't disagree about habituation being based on volume, i was talking in terms of the tinnitus actually eventually subsiding, not just habituation.

How loud is it? Is it comparable to the volume of human voice?
I wear white noise hearing aids that mask the sharpness of it, but I can still hear it over the white noise.

When I don't have hearing aids on, it's definitely comparable to someone talking, although I wouldn't say it interferes with my ability to have a conversation

I think the most important thing is whether or not there is any improvement compared to how you felt 1-2-3 months ago... If you start seeing it fade, then that would be a good sign.

Well I'm in the middle of what I hope is a spike and not an increase so definitely no on the improvement front. But there are people out there whos T starts improving many many months down the road so I guess I just hold out hope.
