This is unfortunate, but I truly believe that younger people being personally impacted by tinnitus is going to propel research forward.

Hearing issues are often perceived as ailments of the old, as much a part of the aging process as eyesight problems and gray hair. But when a condition starts to directly affect younger generations, the perception changes and there is a greater drive to cure or lessen the ailment.

For young people, what used to be a problem your grandfather had, is now something your sister, your best friend, or even you are struggling to cope with. I think as a result, there will be more young people interested in research, audiology, ENT, etc. More people having a personal drive to find a cure.
