Aspartame & Decrease in Symptoms

I've got several posts on here talking about my symptoms but, briefly, regular tinnitus in both ears, pulsatile tinnitus (upon bending), ear drum thumping, high-frequency hearing loss and random autophony in my right ear.

Carotid ultrasound was normal (in '15), MRI showed a large jugular bulb close to my auditory nerves, and a 5 mm flare in the frontal lobe (likely an incidental finding but got a referral to neuro just to get a second opinion.) My ENT things the PT issues are related to me being a musician and the large jugular bulb. My sister-in-law (a registered RN) thought it sounded like Meneire's but my ENT doesn't think so. He mentioned SSCD just because of the autophony and I've got a CT of the ear scheduled for Friday. I don't think that's the issue since I have ZERO vertigo.

Anyway... when I thought maybe it was Meneire's, I did some reading and read a lot about giving up caffeine. I'm not a coffee drinking but was a heavy-duty Diet Coke drinker - easily the equivalent of 5-10 cans a day. I figured giving it up was worth a shot. Within two days, most of my symptoms (especially the autophony) had decreased by 80%. I went from constant issues throughout the day to only 3 or 4 issues per day. then, I'd have a few days that were symptom free, followed by a day where I had maybe 1 or 2 moments of autophony. I'm now on day 4 with no symptoms (other than the regular T.) Even my PT has been non-existent and I've been suffering from that for 7 years at least.

Has anyone else had success or had noticeable changes? Especially in regards to aspartame?

Sort of. Apartame and all diet sweeteners bothered me so I tried to avoid them. Then, I started drinking an apricot nectar from wally world. After I started having problems, esp with eyes after dental work, an affilliated hosptial diagnosed Celiac disease (a wheat allergy). I believed the BS that all was due to that- no nutrients from my food. So Vitamin a was high in the nectar and I tried to drink at least two daily, if not more.

I started having gluten-like symptoms again and couldn't eat. I was nearly blind with blurred vision, took the day off and spent it in bed drinking fruit juice... apricot nectar. I finally got out magnifiers to scrutinize the ingredients as I got worse, looking for hidden gluten. Instead found NEOTAME. I'd never heard of it. Apartame was the predacessor to Neotame and it was speedily approved by the FDA due to that similarity.

So, I learned about Aspartame/Neotame and stopped drinking the nectar.

In the liver, aspartame turns into methane, the same chemical that blinds alcoholics if the alcohol content is too high.
It also has been linked to causing overgrowth of yeast in the gut that contributes to obesity. The overgrowth has to do with loss of good bacteria and then bad cyanogenic bacteria take over kicking up any previously gravitated or implanted metals or mercury in your body. Then, you have problems like blindness and tinnitus, maybe anemia...the list is endless. Send a thank you note to Rumsfeld for using his political clout to rush approval of aspartame through the FDA when he was the highly overpaid CEO of Nutrasweet.

So glad to hear that you have had some relief from this bastard condition.. My lifestyle has changed well over 100 % and l am pretty well proud that l have gone from a 13.4 stone down to 11 stone 7. I drink fruit juice without the added sugars and every morning am up exercising until my tee shirt is wringing wet.. not too bad for a 60 year old. My tinitus is still there from the morning l open my eyes right up until i close my eyes.. l tried measuring it by turning the radio station onto am and finding a hiss which resembles the pitch which this is at and l measured the loudness of the radio until it was on par with the |T l have it at 80 decibels. l know that its above any conversations .. l did see an audio ologist but that was a waste of time.. Well not really as it gave me hope.. Looks like it's hear to stay.. i sometimes have a look on this forum and come across the odd folk who have slipped the net and i'm happy that they don't have to put up the constant ringing.. Just please look after you hearing.. no more headphones no more loud concerts.. Stay well and stay healthy...x

I'm sure I read somewhere that aspartame is a known neurotoxin - I'll try and find the source and post a link

since kicking it, I've read so much bad stuff about aspartame. i honestly believe in the next 10-20 years they're gonna be able to link it to tons of really nasty health issues. I'll never touch the stuff again... even if every symptom comes back.

Butter is healthy.
Other fats are volatile at high temperature,
