I've got several posts on here talking about my symptoms but, briefly, regular tinnitus in both ears, pulsatile tinnitus (upon bending), ear drum thumping, high-frequency hearing loss and random autophony in my right ear.
Carotid ultrasound was normal (in '15), MRI showed a large jugular bulb close to my auditory nerves, and a 5 mm flare in the frontal lobe (likely an incidental finding but got a referral to neuro just to get a second opinion.) My ENT things the PT issues are related to me being a musician and the large jugular bulb. My sister-in-law (a registered RN) thought it sounded like Meneire's but my ENT doesn't think so. He mentioned SSCD just because of the autophony and I've got a CT of the ear scheduled for Friday. I don't think that's the issue since I have ZERO vertigo.
Anyway... when I thought maybe it was Meneire's, I did some reading and read a lot about giving up caffeine. I'm not a coffee drinking but was a heavy-duty Diet Coke drinker - easily the equivalent of 5-10 cans a day. I figured giving it up was worth a shot. Within two days, most of my symptoms (especially the autophony) had decreased by 80%. I went from constant issues throughout the day to only 3 or 4 issues per day. then, I'd have a few days that were symptom free, followed by a day where I had maybe 1 or 2 moments of autophony. I'm now on day 4 with no symptoms (other than the regular T.) Even my PT has been non-existent and I've been suffering from that for 7 years at least.
Has anyone else had success or had noticeable changes? Especially in regards to aspartame?
