Autifony Therapeutics Phase II Study for AUT00063, for the Treatment of Hearing Loss and Tinnitus

I think its better to judge each individual drug on it own merits, rather than making comparisons.
They both have different compositions do they not?

Still, I think you're on a placebo. It couldn't just work on the 28th day only?

By the way Autifony's new drug has been in the Sun's British newspaper! Some coverage is great!

Looks like the eligibility age range is between ages 60-89 years old. Too bad for me as the Florida testing location is close by.
Maybe just maybe they will soon start the QUIET 1 study here also.....I live a mere few minutes away from one of the test sites.

Sorry for the delay above are my T loudness scores, still no side effects to report.
Wish I could have posted better scores :(. At the dentist when receiving local anaesthetic my T dropped to a 3 but rose backup shortly afterwards to a 7.

Just wanted to say thank you for posting your results and experience with this trial. Appreciated by us all.
Wondered whether you were stressed out with the pain of tooth and dentists visits? Could this have any effect at all on your results?
Anyhow please keep us informed. Thank you

It looks like details of Autifony's trial for hearing loss only (CLARITY- 1) in the U.S, have just been released

https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02345031
Wow, I would be really interested in this trial if I didn't wear hearing aids. I'm desperate enough to even think about lying but I know me, I always tell the truth in the end. :-( I could decide to not wear them for 6 months and they would then consider me for participation. I would be as good as deaf most of the time. It would be interesting though, especially for friends and family. Anyway, I just hope something will come up that I am qualified to participate in. In my case, I think genetics are involved. It was interesting that they didn't indicate that hearing loss in family members as being a factor in consideration. Thanks for posting Mark. I really appreciate hearing about trails like this! One day, one will come along for me that will help.

with 2 participants there are 4 possibilities

both on placebo
both on autifony
participant 1 on placebo, p2 on autifony
p1 on auyifony p2 on placebo

so there is a 25% probability they are both on placebo,

as sample size increases the probability that they are on placebo reduces.

@dan , Here's a picture of it from FB bro.

"Initial tests showed it could ease the symptoms in weeks"

Wow, wow, wow..... has this ever been written about any other tinnitus drug in the past????

Maybe they know more than what goes public!!!

You are welcome. Autifony is giving us some hope, those of us with wretched tinnitus and those with deafness or both....

Big hope can result in big disappointment. Maybe some are lucky and can get rid of this BS. I hope that there is at least a little of success that further research in this area will be done. The article is "a little bit" too optimistic IMHO.

Just to let everyone know that they are right now running a discussion on this and Tinniuts on BBC Radio Five Live which you can listen to online (simply type in Five Live). You can listen to it live now (in a minute) or listen to it after the programme has aired. I am hearing stuff like stop drinking alcohol and healthy living gets rid of it!!!

It's a bit like Fermat's Last Theorem. Popular opinion was that it would never ever be proved until in 1994 it was. Now its just another Theorem which was proved and the Human Race has moved on and forgotten about it.

The key to addressing Tinnitus may not be that elusive once a solution is applied to the correct place. This is the first purpose built drug which not only theoretically addresses the manifestation of the condition but also has incredibly strong animal evidence that it works really successfully.

If I were compiling the starting odds on a betting book with the success of this drug being the event I would say it has an 8/11 chance of meaningful relief. That's my gut instinct. These guys aren't messing around.

Sure getting all hopeful and hyped up over this could result in a big disappointment. Logically speaking though it may be justified to have just a little smile on your face and spring in your step until the results come in. After all bigger breakthroughs than this are made every day in other scientific fields of study. I for one am quite hopeful.

Bring it home Autifony

@amandine Your last sentence has made me not want to listen to that article. Not the BBC's pet GP, Dr Sarah Jarvis and her blinkered opinions is it??

No not at all like that. I am currently in contact with them asking them to upload it onto the podcast. It was only the last two sentences which I mentioned which I caught and were not part of the main article. I believe they were discussing the autifony trials.....Surely we should be interested and seeking more publicity through this type of public media rather than saying we don't want to listen to the article? How does not listening to the article or closing our eyes to what is being reported help us at all?
I used to work for the BBC and for five live too.

Just to let you know that this is the link to the website to listen to it

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b050xdy9

or alternatively go onto the five live website and go onto the adrian charles programme and look for 02/02/14 recorded programme....

Talking about TRT and CBT and white noise generators and stress raising the noise level in the head.
Also discussing the fact that some people can have it so bad that cant sleep at night.
They are playing sounds that people can hear in their heads.
Also saying some people severely disabled and not being able to work.
Discussing the fact that stress can trigger it and not just acoustic trauma and also can come on following surgery or TMJ etc....have people phoning in giving their personal experiences. Saying that they cant have silence as it drives you crazy. One chap saying offered 2 choices years ago - one was to be deafened or to have white noise generator hearing aid playing noise so loud couldnt hear the tinnitus........says it goes up and down in volume. Keeping busy and how you should not react to the sound etc..........But now discussing more modern methods....
Woman says she went to bed last year with no problem and woke up with the noise which was like torture. She couldn't sleep or eat and finally saw her doc after five days. Discusses getting cortisone injections and has now found a year later that apparently it is to do with migraine headaches and can be treated.
Another caller saying she cant live with it as it driving her insane...she cant sleep...etc...doctor useless......saying that people dont understand that cant cope with this noise.
Another caller saying she eats healthily and doesnt drink alcohol so there is no connection.
Saying that there is a lot of ignorance about this subject. Another caller complaining that she has had a high pitched noise in her head and told to live with it etc........by the ent.......
Maybe it is worth listening to this article......They so far have not said anything about Autifony or AM - 101 trials!!!
why not???!!! do we respond to it?
Sorry this is off thread............

Exciting stuff, for sure. And although the new trial for AUT-63 in the USA is just for age-related hearing loss, it's exciting that it's now going to be here and being tested. I reached out to the trial doctor at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN (not far from where I live) as someone interested in AUT-63.
