Cause of Tinnitus
Fluid, from a cold. No noise damage or infection.
So I've had tinnitus for some years now. Unfortunately I'm having a very bad spike right now, one of the worst I've ever had and what's worrying me is it's a constant sound instead of my usually tinnitus which fluctuates over a few seconds.

I also have no idea what caused this spike. I went out with a friend, came home and suddenly had this new sound I can't think of any time I would have got loud noise exposure.

Has anyone had a completely new sound that went away??

I'd be grateful for any replies as I'm currently writing this at 5am because I can't sleep.

I am currently responding to you because I can't sleep myself! I'm also dealing with a spike that's keeping me up. I've had new sounds that did go away. Hopefully yours will as well.

Tinnitus can change sound or add sound and strength for a reason and also for no reason.
This time of allergies can cause spikes etc.
love glynis

I hope your spike goes down too! I'm just a worried that it's not going to go away. Yes, I was thinking that as everyone has had awful hayfever recently but I would have thought it would improve when I'm inside?

I also experience a spike right now, it's probably from allergies but I am not sure. It makes me depressed an this depressing feeling also amplifies the spike.
If I could, I would go to the sea, walk on beaches, it always can calm me down a bit.

My spike is almost 5 weeks and is just horrible. Screaming in head and ears. Good/bad doesn't matter. Right neck and headache. Maybe allegies some know. Was in hospital for surg on this past Monday and it was low. Come home and boom there she goes

Still got the spike unfortunately, might be the tiniest bit better but hoping for the best! Hope all of your spikes go down too Had a spike that lasted over 6 weeks once so hoping this is just a long spike again

I had a completely new sound that appeared in my right ear (my left ear was were the T first came to visit) that lasted about one week and then disappeared. I have multiple sounds in my left ear and get intermittent morse code types beeps that come and go. Normally there is a reason why it spikes... loud noise exposure being the most common, stress can be a big factor as well. T seems to be quite erratic at times and from what I've read, it seems it can happen randomly. There's still a lot we don't know about T.
