Protecting my ears using earmuffs whilst on a noise catamaran ferry. Naturally, I fell asleep and the muffs rested against the chair which was vibrating due to the engine (similar to feeling vibration on planes and buses etc).
I woke up with the earmuffs vibrating which was causing a humming sound in the earmuff. This has naturally worried me, as I was asleep and could not move my head away. I was asleep for an hour, so this was maximum exposure time.
Tinnitus has spiked slightly as a result and a new hum.
Could this be the cause? Any ideas as to how loud the exposure would have been, if vibration and not noise directly?
Thanks all.
