Cause of Tinnitus
Loud music
Hello Everyone,

This is my first posting, I recently had my first tinnitus episode starting on January 1st, 2017, what a way to RING IN the new year. The cause of my tinnitus is loud music.

Anyway the tinnitus was pretty bad for the six weeks and from that point on it lessen somewhat, but did not go away and it would vascillate from moderate to severe.

So I brought earplugs and I started to do research online and pretty much everything talked about managing tinnitus, but as we all know, very little is mentioned about curing tinnitus.

So I went to my internist and he gave me "Methyprednisolone" 6 day course, which helped initially, but once the medication, the ringing in my ear would come back. And I taking this medication would not be an option because of the side effects, so I started look alternative treatments and I did something greatly reduced the tinnitus to the point bordering nonexistent.

I recently read that there is passage of scripture in both the Quran (Muslims Holy Book) and also in the Bible, that stated the "Black Seed Oil" is the cure of all diseases except for death, so I went online and did my research one the Oil of "Nigella Sativa" and read that this Oil is my benefits for the body. One of these benefits are promotes healthy inflammation response. Which I would think would be a measured inflammation response in accordance to the type of injury what has endured.

My think on tinnitus is that it is a type of inflammation within the middle or inner ear, which in turn causes the nerving endings responsible for hearing the full spectrum of sound. Anyone not to get overly scientific (Even though that is the I approach life problems, by dealing with them in a scientific manner).

I brought bottle of black seed oil about 5 weeks and I initially took a tablespoon every morning and night on a empty stomach along with exercise the occasional Xanax and at first I noticed an increase in my tinnitus in the fourth week, nothing changed for the first three week, and in my fifth and sixth week, I noticed a significant reduction in my tinnitus bordering to the level of nonexistent and after a long time I finally have silence.

Now was it the black seed oil? I feel it was, but then again I have online that most tinnitus episodes resolved themselves in two or three months, 90 % of tinnitus episodes resolved themselves by 6 months. It says that if you tinnitus for a year or more, then most likely it is permanent. But I have read there are individuals that state their tinnitus went after 4 years.

Anyway I am close to the fourth month mark, maybe this was natural. I definitely think that the black seed oil helped me tremendously. Anyone I hope this thread can help some if not all tinnitus sufferers.

My tinnitus flared up in the fourth week, to tell you the least, it was horrendous, I cursed myself for ever trying this stuff, but I woke up after about a week and I noticed, even though my tinnitus was still there, but it was at a lowest level than anytime before.

So I remember in school I was told by my professor that "Inflammation" is actually a good thing when it comes to injury. Inflammation is a catalyst to healing, it brings the effected area many beneficial compounds produced within our own bodies and as the effected area starts to heal, the inflammation starts to subside. I think that flare up I had was a healthy inflammatory response that healed some of the damage to the microscopic cilia (Nerve Endings) in my inner ear. I have read somewhere that some of the cases of tinnitus is actually damage to the cilia.

And if you heal and repair these nerving ends, you can achieve a reduction in you baseline tinnitus and also a reduction in maximum tinnitus. when the tinnitus is at its worse. That what I noticed there was a reduction in my baseline tinnitus and in my maximum tinnitus. Just the entire range has been knocked down a few levels, enough so that it is not as bad even when it is at its worse.

But that's me, I don't know if anyone else would have the same reaction. The experts say that everyone's tinnitus is their unique tinnitus. I can tell you what it did for me. I hope it does the same for others who choose to try it.

I've actually just started with black seed oil. Thymoquinone, the active ingredient, seems to be a great anti inflammatory.
I did a websearch for what the 5 or 10 best black seed oil brands are and decided to try the Amazing Herbs stuff. It tastes spicy, and I need to find a way to take it thats better than a spoonful of the stuff.

Indeed i have red on our forums, that Black Seed Oil helps a lot with T. I am about to try it also. Hope it helps, because that thing is so irritating. It keeps waking me up, even as i started giving it the "I Don't Care!" pill and fall asleep esily. Will see ... Even if it only decreases the volume it will be a tremendous chievement.

I am also aproaching the 4-th month and all was fine, until i went to that loud place ... then it came back with all it's glory! Hope i didn't screw myself too bad :D I also had some cortico therapy, which actualy made things worse ... but lud music took it to a whole new level :D Anyway, it won't break my spirit. Only my sleep ... pffff ...

Best of luck to anyone who tries this!

Anyone else get positive results with this? I'd like to try it but already have too many bottles of supplements that didn't work.

I've had noise-induced tinnitus for 10 years now, and was afflicted by it through noise from a gun shot when serving the Swedish marines. It started in both ears, but after three days it disappeared from my right ear and since then it has persisted in my left ear as a high pitched (approx 13000 Hz) pulsatile tinnitus. I have tried acupuncture, stretching exercises for the neck and jaw recommended by a specialist, and everything that different Youtube-self-help-video has recommended. Unfortunately none of it helped me permanently, but the jaw and neck exercises did manipulate the frequency and sound level of my tinnitus. I suspected it was a chronic inflammation since the tinnitus was single-sided and pulsating, changing with the stretches and physical activity. As described in this post:

https://www.tinnitustalk.com/threads/high-pitch-pulsatile-tinnitus.8856/

So I tried incorporating turmeric milk (golden milk) in my daily routine and that helped a little bit but not enough. Finally, I started taking nigella sativa (black seed), a cure-it-all, according to hadith:

Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet (may Allah exalt his mention) said: "Use this Black Seed regularly, because it is a cure for every disease, except as-saam (i.e. certain death)." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Combined with prayer, as of course, nothing is possible without THE LORDs permission! And praise be to THE ALMIGHTY, my tinnitus has now been reduced to such a level that I have to focus hard to hear it (most of the time)!!

I started by taking about a tea spoon of oil twice per day, and it worked. Now I take it together with a table spoon of pure honey (preferrably honey, preferably Sidr), and so far I have been ALMOST (6 out of 7 days per week) tinnitus-free for about 3 months now.

When I was younger I thought about doing a career in the military.

From your experience is it common with tinnitus in the military?

Did you wear ear protection and was it a single shot? Was it just a ordinary hand gun, those are not that loud.

But I guess you can't protect your ears at all time, as there are many surprise situations where you have to act first before having the time to put on the protection.

I'm going to try the seed oil, will add some drops directly to my ears as well.

Niko, from my experience it depends on which part of the military people serve. Where there are many more noise-inducing activities, such as grenade and tank exercises, more people tend to be afflicted by tinnitus. However, I was serving the marines and the only noise-inducing exercises we had were with rifles. I did not have ear protection as it did not happen during an exercise. Actually, what did happen was that one of my patrol members was playing with his rifle (AK5) and accidently shot off two projectiles in the very small room we were sitting in (with concrete surfaces surrounding us on all sides). One projectile ricocheted in the room and the other flew out through the window past our other platoon members. Praise be to GOD, nobody got injured by the projectiles themselves, but all of us who were in the room got tinnitus. We were three people in the room, and the person who played with the rifle claimed that his tinnitus disappeared after two days. My case I have described in this thread, and the third person had tinnitus in both ears the last time I saw him.

Sharonr, I agree with Niko, I don't think it matters which brand you use. I've been using two different brands (Amazing Herbs and Heritage Store). When I was looking for this oil I made sure to buy pure 100% virgin nigella sativa oil, which is organic, cold-pressed and unrefined. However, the oil has a very "distinct" flowery-spicey taste, so if you can't stomach it then I suggest you get it in capsules. I always take a table spoon of honey with it. If I take the oil as it is (no capsules), I usually mix it in warm water with honey (not too warm in order to not destroy the healing benefits of honey). When I'm feeling sick (i.e. about to get a cold or something like that) I take this three times per day instead of two.

Best regards,
Akram

Hi Sharon

I have not noticed a difference on my tinnitus between the capsules and the liquid form. When I take the capsules I take 2x capsules in the morning and in the evening. When I feel ill I take them 3 times per day. So totally 4-6 capsules in a day.

It is however also important to mind the rest of your diet and life style as well, since there could be something there that keeps affecting your tinnitus. I follow what I believe to be an islamic diet, which I think is beneficial for the body and healing.

Good luck

@dazraf Sometimes I take it before eating, sometimes after, sometimes on an empty stomach. I feel it works best the days when I am fasting (like today). In those days, I take 1 tsp of black seed oil, and directly after I drink a glass of warm milk with 1 Tbsp of honey (Ecological). Then I dry-fast (Islamic) from dawn until sunset. After I break my fast, I take another tsp of black seed oil and another glass of warm milk with 1 Tbsp of honey.

@Charbee See my response to dazraf. When I do not fast I follow the same routine. Once in the morning and once in the evening: 1 tsp of black seed oil, and directly after I drink a glass of warm milk with 1 Tbsp of honey (Ecological). If I am sick, I do this 3 times per day: morning, afternoon, evening.

Good luck :)
