Hi guys, I'm from england where black tea is the main beverage drunk. Anyway I tried drinking water and a few cups of coffee yesterday, I felt horrible, depressed, anxious, tinnitus was bothering me a lot more. Today I went back to drinking black tea (with milk, 1 sugar), instantly I felt more relaxed, happier, just more chilled out. I did some research and apparently black tea contains theanine, theanine increases the alpha waves in the brain putting you in a relaxed yet alert state, I know tea contains caffeine but the theanine balances it out leaving you more relaxed, there was also a study done saying tea is as hydrating as water, i drink about 6 cups a day, its a great stress reliever, we British build an empire on it! Ditch the coffee and give tea a try, it might help.

I agree with you, Mick! I'm in the US, but I love tea, too. I've tried drinking coffee, but it's just not the same. Tea makes me feel good, relaxed, and refreshed. Also, it's good for you, and I haven't noticed that the caffeine in tea has caused me any tinnitus spikes at all.

I'm glad you've gone back to drinking tea, and I think you'll find that it doesn't increase tinnitus for you, either.

I think I'll go have some tea right now!!

Best wishes,
Karen

I drink 2-3 cups of black tea, green tea, oolong tea or spring dragon tea every day...sounds good I think I will have one now ;)

That is interesting. I believe Green Tea has theanine in it too. Does it lower your T any?
