Help pls.

I have a blocked ear with a new tinnitus sound on my better side, different pitch - what should I do? I have ear drops, Betamethasone.

The longer I can't pop it I worry the new sound will stay. I don't want to aggravate it by trying to pop too much however and I can't physically (tried chewing, steam etc.)

I have no cold but maybe delayed barotrauma from a flight 2 days before and existent slight blockage before I flew?

Plus cupped my ear in bed by mistake.

Last two months have been a joke for my ears, won't bore or depress you with the details.

Thanks - panicked and off work!

@Candy
I had a similar experience - couldn't pop my ear for weeks.
I bought an Ear Popper - it worked wonders.
Google it and see what you think.
You can use it as long as you are not congested. Hope it resolved soon. X

I would not recommend Valsalva as it can be harmful.

But there is soft Valsalva you can do and that worked for me when my ears were badly blocked:
You can take a tissue and breath out threw your nose with one nostril blocked, not too hard but long breath out, and you do this several time till it open your eustachian tube.
Another trick is to buy a balloon, and breath out inside, it's also like Valsalva but it put less pressure.

If it persists, what is recommended are corticosteroids or antihistamine, ask your doctor.

This happens to me every few weeks! I have an otovent (it's a cheaper version of an ear popper) which helps me to pop my ear safely. Sometimes it takes like a week for mine to pop eventually! Over the counter Sudafed helps me too xx
