Bose Noise Cancelling

[/ATTACH]
Are these "over the ear" headphones, as opposed to the ones you stick into the ear? Are Bose noise cancelling over the ear headphones considered to be "open back headphones"?

I am not advocating the use of any headphones, but this is the first "open back" headphone, introduced in 1968, the Sennheiser HD414. Sennheiser called them "Open-Aire". The company sold 10 million of these. I had them, and used to order replacement earpads when needed.

Thank you for the information. I wouldn't use any type of headphones and I advise you not to either.....
All the best
Michael
Thanks. I do use headphones. Not for music but for audio podcasts or talk radio. I listen at the lowest volume possible. And often just wear one in my right ear (the one with no tinnitus or problems)
But thank you for your advise.

Thinking of getting QC35 for noisy environments like air travel. Does anyone use them in noisy social gatherings? Yes you would look odd while everyone is ranting on around you, and maybe a tad self conscious. How do you deal with this?
