Aloha fellow sufferers,
I discovered this site after searching for "hyperacusis dating" (as if such a thing might exist), and for once I feel a little hope.
Tinnitus has affected me since childhood, probably from exposure to equipment noise, guns, and fireworks. I am 46 now.
Hyperacusis has crippled my left ear since 2014. It triggers the startle reflex, which aggravates my PTSD fight or flight response. Cortisol has been running at maximum within threshold limits for years. I also have Graves disease (hyperthyroidism) and a tailbone injury that causes frequent urination. Perhaps like a mother of many children, except I am a dude.
So, to the gal who mentioned her frustration in finding a padded cell mate
just imagine my delight and insert a blonde guy emoji here.
It has been said that "misery loves company," which probably explains most of the internet these days. So those of us who know hyperacusis must all be having a very loud party with lots of interesting guests at this moment.
Or maybe just lying down in a quiet bedroom, daydreaming about random things.
Thank you very much if you read this.
