Hi there,

So one of my closest family friends is Chinese and they were concerned about my current condition and took me to see a Chinese doctor. They had 2 other family members who had T and found reductions thru TCM (traditional Chinese medicine). So after the exam, he suggesting this formula called Bupleurum & Dragon Bone Combination (chai hu jia long gu mu li tang). Its put together by himself but the formula originates from Zhang Zhongjing back in year 200. I was wondering if anyone has tried anything similar to this. I know there is another common Chinese formula called Er Long for T, but I was prescribed this because, what he said, the pressure in my head is off balance. I did look up this formula, as did my friend, and it was comprised by one of China's oldest and greatest TCM doctors. And T is repeatedly and aliment its used for. If TCM helped their dads T and aunts T, then why not? I looked up each ingredient to make sure they were not Ototoxic. I couldn't find any evidence that they were. Below is the list of ingredients and if anyone could tell me if they have tired TCM that has any of these more rare ingredients in common, I would like to hear about their experience.

I think I will start it in a day or so and report back but I am just doing my part in making sure there aren't any bad experiences her on the board with something similar.

I see one of the ingredients is Ginger, which has salicylates, but would this be enough to have any negative effect? The combinations daily dosage is 4000mg in capsule form. 2k in the morning and 2k in the evening.

Thanks for letting me know. Did the herbs help you?

I have that particular one in a mix for anxiety and insomnia. I read somewhere that it has anticonvulsant properties, which made me hesitant to take it.
I didn't take the herbs long enough to find out. I read that Chinese herbs can often contain heavy metals so I stopped early just to be precautious. I have had anxiety panic disorder for about 3 years and take other natural things to keep it under control.

Someone else must try it. @another sean - are you able to ask if it can be universally used for tinnitus, or whether there has to be the "pressure issue that you spoke of"? Did the two members of your friend's family fully recover?

Reason I ask is I was given a TCM including Bupleurum. I read it has anticonvulsant properties and is used for tinnitus in TCM.

Hello,

I am taking Huang Qin and it has some effect, lasting about 4 hours. I plan to increase the dose and to add Danshen, as soon it arrives.

I have an autoimmune condition and at this point I am quite convinced to have small blood vessels inflammation affecting the adjacent nerves in my body and in the ears.

Huang Qin is Th1 and Th17 inhibitor while Danshen reduces endothelial permeability. This is why I think it could be a good combination in my case.

Great news that you've been helped by the above...

You wouldn't also consider the LDN if you are dealing with autoimmunity?

What do you think is driving the autoimmune condition?

Have you thought about cytokine panels to see if you are T1 or T2 dominant etc...?

Hello,

I do not think my doctor would offer me LDN but I will ask in the next call. She was considering immunosuppressants but she is not completely sure, and neither am I.

I think my autoimmune condition is driven by Cytomegalovirus or some other herpes virus, as it worsen with cold weather, seeds, cereals, nuts and menstruation. I have eliminated all these foods.

I had no analytic for Th1 and Th2 but I am sure I am Th1 dominant, Sjögren is considered Th1 dominant. Also, I have tried most of the common antivirals/anti-inflammatory herbs and I am worse with Th1 inducing ones (rose hip, hibiscus, chamomile, mint, lemon balm, elderberry...) and I am better with the Th2 inducing ones (olive leaf, resveratrol, fennel, cinnamon...). But they do not solve the issue. This is why I decided to try with Chinese herbs, which are stronger.
