Hi everyone. I don't seem to get much feedback when I post on here but thought I'd try one more time to get some responses on this one...

I posted a while back that when I take my multivitamin and/or an excederine for a headache, my PT reduces significantly. I've been racking my brain for about a year now on how or why this could be happening. I couldn't come up with anything, but was just happy that I found something that could give me a little relief once in a while. Then I realized both my vitamin and the excedrine have caffeine in them.

Then I started to drink a cup of coffee about mid afternoon while I was at work and started to notice a drop in PT. Now, this is about the time of day I notice a slight spike in my PT. Probably from just being at work and stressed some days.

I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed a decrease in their PT with caffeine? I have read on a lot of threads that caffeine makes theirs worse. I never once have given up coffee during my three years with this miserable problem.

I experimented with caffeine and it made no difference to me (diet in general seems to have no effect on my T).
 
I once switched to decaf and made no difference, stayed away from caffeine and made no difference , I now drink caffeine in moderation , kevin
 
Same here. I tried doing without caffeine and it made no difference in my PT. I now mostly drink water and decaf tea, but I occasionally drink caffeinated tea.

It's just weird to me, why my PT would get quieter when drinking caffeinated beverages or taking those vitamins. Any thoughts as to why this would happen?
 
I wonder if there's a difference in how Tinnitus reacts based on whether you got Tinnitus from noise exposure, from an ear infection like you think you did or from a medication like i did, so maybe what you're experiencing is unique to how you got Tinnitus, sure would be interesting to find out if there are in fact differences along these lines.

caffeine dilates vessels in the same way as ginkgo. it would also affect your adrenal output which might be why you're experiencing a spike in your tinnitus when your cortisol drops? i have read that caffeine is considered anti inflammatory. just a guess...
 
@BobK544- You may be on to something there. I never took that into consideration that not everyone develops tinnitus that same way.

@DebInAustralia, Thanks for replying. I know caffeine is used in medications for headaches, which is why when I take one of the pills, the tinnitus gets quieter. I've looked into every possible symptom I could think of that seems to effect my PT.
 
I thought I had read somewhere that caffeine makes our tinnitus worse, so I don't drink coffee anymore, only green tea, which I know does have a little bit of caffeine in it. But now that I read this, maybe I'll try drinking coffee for a few days and see if that makes a difference in the loudness of my tinnitus.
 
You can find info that's all over the place regarding caffeine and T. There's a 2014 study that says it may help, but I've read both positive and negative. I reduced my caffeine drastically since my T started, but I've done that because resting is so difficult anyway, and I want to reduce anything that might hinder natural sleep. I also want to reduce inputs into higher blood pressure. I'd say do what works for you, and good luck to you!
 
I have eliminated caffeine and it has not reduced my PT. I am still undecided on diet and exercise but it has resulted in weight loss. Acupuncture is my new venture so I will have an update with results.
 
When my TMJ T started coffee/caffeine definitely raised it almost immediately, but after a year after night guards and braces lowered my T from a seven to a two, coffee has no effect at all.

Hi there. I think that might be my problem (with my bite). Did you go to the dentist to get the night guards?
 
You can read my brand new post to hear about what I am hearing and feeling, but I have noticed that decreasing or increasing caffeine consumption has made no difference what so ever for me. Then again, I do not have an official diagnosis yet, so take my experience with a grain of salt, or with cream and sugar as you like...

yes massive difference for me. my pt completely stops after esspresso. can take hours to kick in but lasts for days.
