Cause of Tinnitus
Earwax
I've had a history of excess earwax for about 2 years now (I'm 18 now) and starting last night I've had a ringing in my left ear after a blockage occurred. The blockage is when the earwax creates a fullness sensation in my ear and I experience slight hearing loss. I'm going to an ENT Tuesday (currently Sunday) and she is going to remove my excess wax. I'm hoping that when she does this the ringing will stop. Has anyone heard of this happening? Any ideas of how I can cope until then? I'm very worried and I hope everything will work out. Please positive thoughts only.

This is a very common thing, your T will probably go away after a few days.

Do you have any idea on the time frame? I know it can vary person to person it's just debilitating at the moment. Did yours come on suddenly or did it randomly happen over time?

Unfortunately it progressed over time, mine is possibly due to prolonged noise exposure.
Personally i think meds and my anxiety/PTSD have contributed as well,my neural brakes are broken.

In your case there's a lot of reason to be optimistic so i wouldn't worry too much.

Ah I see. So it's not uncommon for T to go away after a few days?

Earwax is a clear indication of a Tinnitus symptom.
It's the first thing an ENT looks for to see if there's a blockage in your ear canal.
Ah okay. The sound has recently changed from a loud, dog whistle type sound, to a soft, tv static type sound. Think that is a good sign?

Just an update in case anyone else is in this position: I went to get my ears cleaned out today and as of now the T is gone completely. Thanks for those who helped out.
