Hi everyone,

I have severe hearing loss, reactive tinnitus, and hyperacusis. We're currently looking into cochlear implants, and I'm wondering if they could help me. I've read that cochlear implants can assist with hyperacusis and tinnitus, but what about reactive tinnitus?

Yes, cochlear implants can help tinnitus and hyperacusis. Reactive tinnitus is tied in with hyperacusis.

So, you don't think a cochlear implant could make reactive tinnitus worse? Some people report that they can't hear their regular tinnitus when the processors are on. Would the same effect apply to reactive tinnitus?

There are no guarantees. Read the literature on the cochlear implant thread. What I think is irrelevant, as I'm not an ENT surgeon. Speak to one.
