Can Someone Debunk the Claims in This Article and Similar Thoughts?

I remember calling you an Interloper and I was expressing my opinion. If anyone uses foul and abusive language to me directly. I am entitled to voice my opinion on their use of language since I'm not swearing at them. I realize this is 2017 but I still think a person is entitled to voice their opinion. The truth may offend but it's certainly not a sin.

Sure free speech is paramount. That's why I never block anyone and allow people to say whatever they want.

I am pretty good at managing when I do curse, so I only do it alone but I think it has to do with the fact I have a lot of more anger issues now due to the T so I curse a lot and a lot when I am alone... But it doesn't influence anything else so I don't care... My life is already down the drain cursing or not won't change a thing
Tinnitus is difficult enough to manage, no reason to feel bad for swearing. Many studies have shown that swearing can actually help relieve stress and reduce pain: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/8147170.stm

And do not think it reflects poorly on you. Intelligent people are more likely to swear:

Indeed, I believe a person is entitled to say what they want. However, if I believe their conduct towards me is inappropriate, then I may not choose to engage in conversation with them. Again, I believe a person is entitled to do this if they wish.

Thank you for this but it never bothered me and never will , the T is intrusive enough to be the only thing that bothers me in my life anymore... you could break all my possessions and I wouldn't care

In the 7 years I have known @Michael Leigh I have never heard him use bad language and very much a real gentleman polite, helpful and caring and very much like myself .
Bad language is not needed even though it could be to vent anger and feelings its not needed on a public forum.

Totally agree @glynis We regularly chat on the phone, today in fact and never an expletive exchanged in joke or anger. Well, we've never been angry towards each other in 7 years...lol

I think that life's too short to be bothered by swearing, I can't imagine being offended by someone dropping the odd f bomb. If you have ever worked in the corporate world, watched a movie, gone to a pub, had friends, or played any kind of team sport, it's not really something you are going to avoid for very long.

I guess if your life consists of sitting at home by yourself watching Sesame Street, or other kids shows you are probably safe. Otherwise, get ready to be upset by some big bad scary words out there in the real world.

So, I was hopeful it people could help me with this post and appreciate the responses so far. Is this post saying that outside noise is the issue then? Are people saying this is unrelated to tinnitus then?

What do you want help with? And no, this article is talking about external stimuli, and not tinnitus.

Sleeping with even a quiet fan on makes my tinnitus more obnoxious the next day.

That's the case with me as well. A good reminder that what works well for some--even most--may not necessarily be the case for everyone.
It must have been true some odd 20 years ago but these days everyone cusses. My teachers in high school cussed, my professors cuss, my parents cuss and make random racial slurs a lot, and of course every young person cusses. If your grandkids say they don't, don't believe it for a second. I can see why you woulod be object to it, because manners are a dying art, but like eeverything, ettiquite changes as well.

Interesting discussion on this thread about cussing. I rarely cuss myself, but very occasionally, when I'm alone and get extremely frustrated about something, I let out a good ol' string of whatever comes to mind. And I have to say, it does seem to relieve a certain amount of pent up emotions that kind of needed an outlet.

I did however, run across a reference once, that has influenced my own perspectives on cussing. It was said--apparently from a spiritual perspective--that if you must cuss, to "never do it in front of your pets". It gave me a LOT to think about, and I've kept my cussing to a minimum since--and NEVER in front of my sensitive kitties. -- To exprapolate a bit, it would seem then, that you probably shouldn't do it in front of other people either.
