The drugs you will try to cure tinnitus with can cause dementia.

For example
benzos
antiepileptics
antidepressants

There is a correlation between untreated hearing loss and dementia, with the thought that the dementia is a result of social isolation.

Also insomnia from tinnitus can cause dementia.
