Cause of Tinnitus
Unknown
Hi everyone. I have been absent for some years from this site. I thought my tinnitus was cured with a TMJ splint. It did go away almost a whole year and although it returned (my tinnitus has been sporadic never constant) it wasn't as frequent or as disabling (my tinnitus affects my vision and balance).

However recent traumatic events in my life upped the stress and a death in the family added to it all and culminated in my collapsing five times in one day. I didn't actually loser consciousness though I truly thought I was going to. Because of this I was sent to the hospital and it was discovered I have a birth defect in my heart causing a partial blockage of one of the arteries and ventricular tachycardia as well as ventricular ectopy. (the VE I had always felt since youth and thought it was a normal palpitation as I saw a doc when I was nineteen who said lots of people had it and it was nothing to worry about. No investigations and so..I accepted it all these years.)

When I collapsed the Presyncope episodes were preceded by the T and bouncy vision I have had for the last nine years but escalated from a vertiginous feeling to the feeling I was going to faint and my legs buckling which ended in my hitting the deck.

I'm just posting here to share information which maybe might be useful to somebody out there? Perhaps some forms of tinnitus are cardiac related?

It sounds a little like menieres symptoms so might be worth reading up on.

Thanks Glynis. Have read many many articles and lots about menierres but have been investigated for that and my ears are fine. Nobody, none of the doctors or specialists have ever heard of the symptoms I describe (I briefly mentioned them in my post here as I have already described them in detail before on the boards) so as I described in this post without too much detail I can see how they would sound very much like menierres and drop attacks etc. however sadly so far my symptoms remain peculiar to me.
However i would never rule out menierres totally as a possibility, it just doesn't seem very likely so far.
